Summer Haze

Post by Granty »

My Dad reckons
the dumbarse sun’s been running around
with its pants around its ankles for so long
that pretty soon it’s going to
bend over, take aim and blow us all away.

The bloke at the service station tells me that
God’s been crying all these years
about the mess we’ve made of his earth.
He’s wiped his eyes and is letting us have what we deserve.
And that’s why it never rains.

I heard a kid on the train saying
that we’re tiny organisms
living on clumps of moss
growing on the surface of the globe.
Slowly the moss is drying up and being singed out of existence.

This scientist on the radio
said we shouldn’t be fooled by short term extremes
because it’s inevitable
that one day the sun will lose its heat
and we’ll all freeze.

I remember the days when the onset of summer
meant playing on the sand and in the sea.
All that mattered then was
whether Dad would buy me a Gelati
from the van in the car park.

good one Granty.

I remember those days too.
What is that saying????......ignorance is bliss!
maybe there is truth in that.

Regards, Mat.

Gelati and an oozi

I like this one a lot Granty, just wondering if you've typed it a bit quick with the lines:
I heard a kid at the on the train saying
plus
Slowing the moss is drying up and being singed out of existence.
To true otherwise, one wonders what the poor kids are looking forward to these days; actually its still gelati I imagine, gelati and an oozi.
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback, Mat. I think there is truth in that saying.

Thanks for the editing tips, JimmyC. I was caught out a bit  by writing and posting at work, but better caught out by you than by a tap on the shoulder by the big boss man.
