Back then

Post by Boss »

My eyes insist on sleep
But I ignore the incursion
Your face comes to me
And your scent
Your soft bosom

I gave you nothing
Not the time of day
Lost in those books
I missed your offering
Only your heart beats now

In this future
That reeks of loneliness
Melancholy
That has no taste
No sense

I scramble through the day
Missing the month
The season
Soul is kinda' nervous
I drop another benzo'

I cannot read
The truths of other people
It all bounces away
Like a bad cheque
A rubber ball

I dare not dance anymore
The floor is empty it's vacant
Like my personality
The music sick and tired
Of my legs not finding the groove

I cannot sing a note
There is not time
To celebrate
Commiserate
I remain the muted lover

I remember the night
We drove down the beach
Touching each other
Smoking incessantly
Between every kiss

It was one Christmastime
Half my life ago
Things were so clear
Back then
And love so simple

I had no obligation
Back then
I was just one of the many
Living in crisis
And freedom

And they won't offer Him
milk
or honey
won't utter a welcome
as He passes by
there'll be no breaking
of bread
drinking of wine
when He raises
His voice
at the peace sanctum
the arena for atonement
all gone astray

No,
there will be inhumanity
secret laughter
criticism galore
He'll walk through
genital warfare
intricate lies
profanity
with its hands held out
its eyes not focussed
deceptive thought
godlessness

And He will see
all this
and remember back to now
His training ground
and He will wonder still
how Man became
so broken

C'mon lakeside open the floodgates, I need more of your unholiness, more of your vitriol, your lack of love, your sadness. Hit me lakeside, knock me down. Deflate me. Attack that which you don't know, that which you'll never know. Take that blindfold from your eyes, see love anew all refreshed, not broken, not fragmented. And you james, wanna play games? You can't win. Not without love. Heard of the Beatles? "All You Need Is Love" is what they sang. Nothing moves without love james. Nothing. The entire universe dances in it. Your comments don't resonate with this. Like crows, they rather pick the eyes out of dying men - get 'em when they think they're down. So; there is only one place to look, only one place to go - your soul. That's where you'll find solace. And rest. That's where you'll know of peace, freedom and ultimately of love. And in the end we will all get there - no matter what; no matter what

Shalom to you both

...and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make ...

I believe that's how it went.

I have no vitrol, no spleen to vent. I do remember a time though when you did. But, that was too long ago to even bother with. Besides, what makes you think I was criticizing you?

See ya,
Linda.

I would like to read some of that "shalom" in your poetry.

Switz,

I know there is meaning in your comments; I just don't read them. You came in like some shooting star while Jamesy and I were slugging it out. (Who won anyway?) I take it you were conciliatory.

I'm glad this thread is done
