What I am concerned about is that I can send my story to John on time (before 12:01 Midnight Pacific Time). It will sit in my out box. When he checks his message box the next day the story will have the date and time stamp when he retrieves it. WHich would make the story appear to be late when it really isn't.

For Lizzytysh. When you generate a PM it goes to your OutBox and stays there until the receiver logs in and checks for his/her private messages. The PM then goes to your Send Box and stays there until you delete it.
Aha, so this explains janj's confusion!

As my friend C2 would say
Well, that accounts for it.

P.S. As for this laughable plonking business...just like C2 you will read every little thing I post.

I 2, had come across occassions when I sent messages and they stayed in my outbox, 4 a while. I believed that they only moved to my sentbox when they had been opened at the other end by the recipients.

Yippeee, I got soemthing write!!

I think.

I had sent a couple of messages to the same friends and sometimes only one of the messages moved to my sentbox.

I need a drink and a dictionary thingie.

I wonder how many other people are sitting at their computers and wondering how many competitors are manifesting under more than one nickname.

And will they own up to their real persona if they win

Is there any way of knowing ?

And does anyone care?

Will the nom de plume be defrocked in Berlin

And am I becoming paranoid

"defrocked in Berlin" (sic).
Now THAT'S a subject for a short story :)
Andrew.
P.S. Margaret, maybe it will end up as the title of a tall story :?:

As for the competition, it has been said that folks can enter more than one story.
Also, they are being judged anonymously. So, I can't see the benefit of submitting stories under multiple monikers.

However, the multiple-personality-disorder (MPD) atmosphere around here on the board has been a long lamented issue. It was discussed earlier this year in one of the "upper" threads and pretty much dismissed as complaining by folks who were taking things too seriously.
That was the end of that story. (pun intended)

SMC ~

Are you SURE about that time-stamp thing? I'd swear the stamp on it relates to when it was sent by you, just like an email is. Now, I'm going to have to test it :? .

Well, John, your comment struck me on the bias, too :? . That's why I interjected what I did. I'm guessing you couldn't have meant it that way, or you wouldn't have prefaced it the way you did regarding kindness, but somehow, something got lost in translation.

Alright, I tend to trust Lizzy's opinion since she's been so decent to me in the past...

I apologize!

Thanks, John. I see that you had also 'seen the light" regarding janj's confusion, just prior to YdF's comment, too ["Aha, so this explains janj's confusion!"], so all's definitely well. In fact, it looks likely that you wrote yours before seeing his.

Yes, it's never been anything but civility between us. You and Joe Way are similar characters to me in that way [as in character, rather than 'odd sort's ~ though, I guess . . . ].
