From Tony Palmer
Re: From Tony Palmer
Hi
The good news is I know someone who has actually received his box set!
The bad news is it took him dozens of emails (around 60!) to Robin Baxter, Tony Palmer himself and a load of persons who where "in charge of shipping and handling" the item. In the end, he received a "replacement" because his initial package is supposed to have been lost somewhere during postage in Europe... Anyway, he received his box set on March 1st, at last.
The box only includes 2 instead of 3 posters and 1 instead of 6 postcards as advertised. It also includes a hand signed certificate by Tony Palmer. Shipping came from Sweden (?!) and not the UK...
I have been mailing with the persons mentioned above a lot aswell, but in the end gave in and requested a refund from MusicGlue which I have received quite fast.
If anyone is still waiting for their box or if someone has finally received it: keep us posted here!

Re: From Tony Palmer
i don't understand what is so important about this box, or why anyone is willing to use so much energy on it. it is just stuff about leonard cohen, is it not? there are lots of videos and articles about him on the internet, freely available - you don't need this item. this is silly, forget about it; act intelligent and focus on other more interesting and worthwhile things.

Re: From Tony Palmer
Hi,
thanks for this helpful information. This is now the first proof that the box actually exists. Hopefully some further information will come in the near future. I will probably order the box again if it will be offered on Amazon Germany, JPC or some other seller in the EU to simplify the shipping and reduce the costs.
However the business methods of Music Glue and all the other involved parties are very strange and disconcerting. It is good that you got at least your money back in the end. That seems to be the only thing they are able to do very quickly.
Re: From Tony Palmer
It can be tempting to totemize anything LC, believe me. I don't claim to understand this business with the recently auctioned worldly goods but I'll out myself in this respect (for the good of the land, if you must know). I bet some cash on a pendant Leonard gave Anjani, or so I read. But then a tickle in my tummy said stop & so I let myself be outbid. & then I tried to erase myself from having been entangled in the matter, a useless endeavor.
All I mean to say is some might want the record.

If you consider the efforts of some members of this forum to obtain this box set as silly, why don't you act more intelligent and use your precious time to focus on other interesting and worthwile things instead of writing such derogatory posts. Let them act as they want and don't criticize what you can't understand as a famous winner of the nobel prize for literature once wrote.Geoffrey wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 10:55 pm i don't understand what is so important about this box, or why anyone is willing to use so much energy on it. it is just stuff about leonard cohen, is it not? there are lots of videos and articles about him on the internet, freely available - you don't need this item. this is silly, forget about it; act intelligent and focus on other more interesting and worthwhile things.

Thankfully we’ve been spared his customary cod psychology and pop sociology. But not the usual attention-seeking.
You order a product (any product), you pay for it, you don’t receive it, you follow up with the retailer, and so on…there’s nothing ‘silly’ or unintelligent about discussing your experience in a thread created to alert members about that very product.

let it be known that i do not endorse your response to my observation; it simply does not meet with my approval. however, it was good of you to comment, and i'll be sure to run my thoughts past a nobel prize-winning author before making another post about fan culture.
the reason i wrote is because this thread made me aware of something called parasocial interaction, often associated with fandom behaviour - and i was merely trying to be helpful. just because an item has an idol's name on it doesn't mean one needs to get it.
passively letting people simply act as they want can be ok, but is not always a wise decision. completists tend to be easily manipulated by unscrupulous business people, and only a weak-minded observer could remain inactive.

Re: From Tony Palmer
In this thread there are only 5 posts relating to the product or an intention or desire to purchase.
Since October, all posts have been about the retailer/manufacturer failing to supply the product that members have paid for.
That is the main issue here.
Breach of contract not ‘ parasocial interaction’. (And there’s the cod psychology)
