Thank you for the information. I have yet to explore the digital realm of picture-making. Before you suggest that I should do so, please know that I have nothing against it, I am not intimidated by technology or anything like that, but I simply have far more interests than I have time for as it is, artistic/creative and otherwise! Happily, there are a lot of things in the word that are endlessly fascinating to me, with new ones capturing my attention on a regular basis, and thus my time is enjoyably divided amongst many different things! It's great when anybody is passionate about something and enjoys spending time doing it -- and we all have our own thing(s)! Cheers!Geoffrey wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 1:25 am ...concerning the 'book covers', i use a combination of AI-generated images plus use some additional editing techniques that help bring an idea to an acceptable conclusion...i still prefer simple sketching with a piece of paper and a 2B pencil, but the limitless potential of computers and internet is so infinitely fascinating that my time is divided.

quite understandable, and not dissimilar to my own situation. the world contains an abundance of fascinations, so it's necessary to make priorities. anyway, it's good to know that days can be filled with enjoyment, and may that never cease

G, I must say that your little psychoanalysis was, well, spot-off. What a monumental leap it was to assign such significance to an expressed regret at never having visited Scandinavia, when all it meant was "too many places to see, too little time." With all due respect and best wishes, you might consider bartering your psychiatrist couch for more drawing implements.Geoffrey wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 3:30 am its4inthemorning wrote:

thank you for writing to me again. this sentence above suggests there has been a negative influence in your life, one that you do not wish to publicly share - and that is fine. many of us have secrets that could lessen one's self-respect should they be known to others. all i will say is that in this respect there are only three categories of people. those who regret what they did, those who regret what they didn't do, and the few fortunates who regret nothing.
the first two categories indicate people who made mistakes, people who failed in some way, while the third indicates people with a form of mental superiority, an ability to exploit and grow from past experiences, a sort of psychological adaptability.
those who dwell on regret risk being trapped in an anxious mindset, denying them the possibility of moving forward with inner peace. you've got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative - latch on to the affirmative . . .
I have a question for you, G. Over the months I have occasionally included little attempts at subtle humor in my posts. For example, my saying that on my imaginary visit with you we could share nine holes of golf was obviously a tongue-in-cheek statement given your disdain for golf. Do such attempts at (admittedly sometimes lame) humor pass by you unnoticed, or is it that (to doctor an LC lyric), you don't really care for humor, do you?

privately owned proof copy with handwritten annotations

Re: never-ending gallery
sold only on the black market, these bottles of long discontinued fragrance now worth a small fortune.
the director of a los angeles golf course (who's attention was brought to this column), forwarded to me this old snapshot that he'd taken. he said leonard was a proud member of his club, and played regularly whenever he was in the area. he added that he hopes this photo puts to rest any suggestion that leonard never played golf.
Re: never-ending gallery
following my recent investigation into rare books, i now present three hardback volumes.
-----------------------------
only known copy in existence. withdrawn from sale due to cover's sensitive nature. privately published, exceptionally rare edition of 'the flame'. unique edition discovered in a montreal attic; uncertain provenance.

Charming AI-picture (as ususal, your description is full of s***! I wonder how many gullible people think that your various AI creations are real artifacts?). Nonetheless, the image of the golfer (and the style of the photograph) appears to be from circa 1930s, and is therefore anachronistic.Geoffrey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 12:14 pm ...the director of a los angeles golf course (who's attention was brought to this column), forwarded to me this old snapshot that he'd taken. he said leonard was a proud member of his club, and played regularly whenever he was in the area. he added that he hopes this photo puts to rest any suggestion that leonard never played golf...

hello lisa. nice to hear from you
>I wonder how many gullible people think that your various AI creations are real artifacts?
such concern is admirable, although no laws have been broken. also, i trust that most people understand that these book covers are an exercise in creativity - while promoting the works of leonard cohen.
>. . . the image of the golfer . . . appears to be from circa 1930s, and is therefore anachronistic.
yes, one would need to be quite gullible to take that photo as genuine. leonard did claim (in one song) to have traveled into the future where he witnessed a murder, but no record of him traveling back in time comes to mind
happy valentine's day!

Re: never-ending gallery
Yes, quite possibly my concern is misplaced. The thing is, I have a deep aversion to inauthenticity, and it is triggered every time I encounter instances of what appear to be deliberate deceptions -- I absolutely hate fakery. I have a strong tendency to take things (and people) at face-value, and when my expectations of genuineness and honesty are not met, I find it to be very disconcerting and off-putting.
However, when it comes to something as innocuous as an artificially created image for artistic/amusement purposes, I shall try to lighten up and perceive it as just that (despite my natural antipathy towards such things!).
Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, and anyone else reading this! Cheers!

all feedback is immeasurably valuable, so thank you. i just like making pictures, in any kind of media. if someone feels misled or tricked, then i apologise. my intention is to momentarily escape reality, entertain/inspire. leonard died a while ago, and yet his work remains relevant today and for the foreseeable future. we can all try to make sure that "it will never pass into nothingness" - to quote 'endymion'.

Re: never-ending gallery
I like your pictures, and the book covers are cool! Please feel free to ignore my hangups -- my comments were more a reflection of me than you!
The colourful Leonard portrait is very nice -- real paint, or AI paint, doesn't matter, it's nice!
Hope you're all having a great weekend!
