Geoffrey, I was extremely tempted to comment on the subject matter of your latest post, but anything I would have written about it would undoubtedly have been offensive to some, and therefore I decided to be nice and refrain from expressing my honest thoughts and feelings (but, believe me, it was not easy to resist the impulse!).

well, as long as the 'undoubtedly offensive comments' are not directed to a specific person, then i cannot see why you should not feel free to voice your thoughts - but this is a decision you alone must take. personally, i will not be offended no matter what you write, quite the opposite.
wishing you, and everyone reading this, a happy september :)

Good to know! The next time I'm tempted to write something that is generally offensive, perhaps I shall do so! As for the previous occasion, I'm no longer in the mood. :)

Happy September to you, too! Cheers!

I always wondered who Maggie was, and if Dylan ever actually worked on her farm. I suspect that it may be a metaphor...

I really like your Dylan drawing (esp. the filled-in version) -- fun style! (And, MJ, too). Cheers!

thanks! "fun" is a good word. much enjoyment can be had from this sort of thing.

yes, we are a gang of about 12 to 15 people who meet once or twice a week, but it's never certain who will turn up. if the sun pours down we go out into the nature; if it's bad weather we choose a cafe. our verbal exchanges can be stimulating, and that encourages the creative process - which is why real life socialising is an essential part of my everyday lifestyle. on other days the shopping centre is the best place to be, because one always bumps into people one knows, and i love to study their mannerisms while hearing their news.

this world is such a wonderful place, filled with fascinating individuals - each one like a present under a christmas tree.

I certainly agree that the world is a wonderful place, but for completely different reasons -- I would say despite the individuals in it, not because of them! I am not a people-person -- I don't particularly like my fellow humans all that much (with a few exceptions, of course!), and I could happily do without most of them! (Yes, I am somewhat misanthropic and anti-social/asocial, and I am perfectly fine with that!) 8)

there absolutely are individuals who are horrible. they are interesting to examine, but do not contribute in making the world pleasant to live in.

Note to Mr. Spider: I love spiders! Spiders are amongst my favourite critters: spiders are so cool and so beautiful, absolutely lovely and fascinating creatures! And, they are great for pest-control, quietly eating insects that can be a bit of a nuisance. I used to live in an apartment building that had an ant problem, but there were no ants in my apartment, because I had a few lovely little spiders taking care of the place! When the pest-control people woud come to spray all the suites, they couldn't figure out why there were no ants in my apartment, until I told them about my spiders. Hooray for spiders! I'm a huge fan!

Note to people: Never kill a spider, especially in your home or yard! They are doing you a big favour, they won't bother you, and if you actually look at them and see what they do, you will see what marvellous things they are! Their webs can be so intricate and amazing -- real works of art! -- and the spiders themselves are often stunning little creatures!

I have, on many occasions over the years, had "pet" spiders: wild spiders that I have noticed and befriended, who have lived in or around my home. I have talked to them and watched their web-building activities, and I have always been sad when suddenly, one day, they were no longer there (particularly the larger spiders I'd find living outside, whom I'd see every night sitting in their webs). I also once had a spider living on my car, behind the mirror on the passenger side door: she'd sometimes come out and I'd see her, but when I drove the car, she'd retreat into the mirror housing to keep safe -- I called her "Lola".

I adore spiders and consider them friends! :D

response to lisa's message:

so interesting, and i'm glad you have some cool and beautiful friends. the spider quote was stolen from roald dahl, although i confess to not having kept strictly to his original words.

appearances can deceive. many women, and some men, scream at the sight of a spider - due to their unnerving demeanor. if there is a divine being somewhere, he/she has an unkind streak; life can be cruelly unfair. both in fictional literature and real life (quasimodo, frankenstein's monster, joseph merrick, for example) characters who could be far from handsome were actually nice people.

it is no surprise that you like our eight-legged friends. i know you love nature such as birds and turtles, as well as probably a whole host of other creatures - and that denotes a good person :)
