Hallelujah by Gregorian

Post by B4real »

I know there are hundreds, if not a thousand, covers of Hallelujah. I've just checked The LC Files and I couldn't see it listed there so I thought I'd add it here. It's not your regular cover of this song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRV3XEyHrDw

Gregorian are a German band headed by Frank Peterson. They perform Gregorian chant-inspired versions of modern pop and rock songs. The band features both vocal harmony and instrumental accompaniment. Originally, Gregorian was conceived as a more pop-oriented group in the vein of Enigma.

That was really nice, I enjoyed that... until the 3-minute mark when the instrumentation changed and all that ear-splitting noise came in, which totally ruined the vibe. Up until then, it was almost sublime!

"Cheesy" is a word that comes to mind -- in a 1980's "power ballad" kind of way.
