Thank you to Judas Priest, for sharing Jim Sullivan's review of: "THANKS FOR THE DANCE".

Of course, every person is entitled to his or her review.
To each their own.

I, for one, could never be disappointed with anything related to LEONARD COHEN.

His books of poetry....or his songs....or his record albums.... confirm to me only one particular
thought and more specifically, one particular truth ~~ and that is:

=> There is nobody like LEONARD COHEN

I don't remember all the details concerning that day a Columbia Records CEO invited
LEONARD COHEN into his office, telling Leonard that his new album "Various Positions"
would only be released in Europe: Not in Canada. Not in the United States.
{ I believe the year was 1984 }

When this big shot Columbia executive was taken to task by LEONARD COHEN,
the corporate troll snapped back by saying.....

"Leonard, I know you're great, but are you any good" ??? !!!

{ meaning our beloved LEONARD COHEN doesn't sell enough records in North America }

It turns out the LP: "Various Positions" included the song "HALLELUJAH" on it
and the rest is history.

For the record (pardon the pun)....

>>> Millions of people, worldwide, have heard of LEONARD COHEN <<<

We've even got Leonard's picture on our Canadian Postage Stamps....
and here in Montreal, we've got a mural of our beloved poet, drawn on a
tall building on Crescent Street, which is frequented by local folks and tourists
from all over: LEONARD COHEN IS LOVED & ADMIRED BY EVERYBODY

Question: What was the name of that big-shot Columbia Records executive who asked
Leonard if he was any good ??? :roll:

Review "de standaard" (belgium): Last waltz with Leonard Cohen. A positive review but with (to me) disappointing 3 stars out of 5...

I love your Question at the end, Brucester. I agree. I'm grateful for this extra material coming to us the only way possible.

Uncut – January 2020
LEONARD COHEN: We review his new posthumous album, Thanks For The Dance, while engineer and musician Michael Chaves sheds light on the recording and Cohen’s working practices.
I'm not sure if I could post hi-res detailed magazine scans here? It's a 4-page review.

ThankYou so Much Adam Cohen for being stuborn enough to put this album out and for let us have your father's voice once again waltzing our senses. It's a beautiful album, exquisitely beautiful I should say.
For that and everything else, my endless gratitude.

I just realised the song number five on the new album is called "It's Torn" and not, as I thought, "It's Tom".
This is not a joke. I was really curious who this Tom person is, and was looking forward to finding it out on Friday.

I couldn't wait for Friday and “The Night of Santiago”, so I listened to Leonard's recitation of the poem “The Faithless Wife” from the audio "Book of Longing” and played some flamenco music in the background.
And, well, it kind of worked.

Let's not forget these early (and quite amazing) versions of the songs "The Hills" and "Puppets".
Apparently they were played during an interview with KCRW radio in 2006.
