From the New Yorker, “Leonard Cohen and the Divine Voice”

I haven’t watched the video yet, but it is by David Remnick who conducted the interview before he died.

I’m in a hotel room and working from an iPad so if the link doesn’t work, I apologize. Go to the New Yorkers website and search.

Thank you for this link (it does work).

I have just listened to it, and it was beautiful to hear Leonard's voice as he discussed and reflected on things in his deep and thoughtful way. But it was very sad, too, particularly because of when the interview took place, and what we now know to be true.

Incidentally, I recommend not reading the subtitles in the video -- they are not entirely accurate -- and, in fact, I wouldn't even bother watching the video, because the images are distracting, irrelevant, and unnecessary (why does everything have to have a video? This is just an audio recording of Leonard -- Can't people just listen with their ears?). After a few moments, I just closed my eyes and listened to Leonard's voice.

thank you, joe, for pointing us to this interview. inspiring, beautiful and sad. the entire 26 minutes has been saved onto my harddisk (using the 'chrome audio downloader' addon). have listened from beginning to end, too much for me to digest. will have to listen again, small portions at a time, and i needed to capture it, in case it suddenly disappeared.

I read it through a link via FB and reposted it there. I will listen now. Thank you for the link, Joe. It takes so little to bring it all back, his loss, but when there's a lot, it's even harder.

I can't get it to open. Will try again later. My Internet access for this kind of thing is the least reliable when I'm at home.
