Are we alone?

Post by George.Wright »

Are we alone in these billions of stars?
that glisten and glitter against the dark veil of unknowing?
that spiral and twirl in a genetic dance of love and attraction?
and twist and consumates like the serpent eating it's own tail?
is life of no purpose or to no avail?
This small azure veiled blue planet of ours
is it the jewel in the darkened crown?
are we the only show in town?
the godhead's single masterpiece in all the crust?
are we all to live here and ferment to dust?
Now why is religion making all the fuss?

Good stuff George !! I often wrestle with these thoughts although hardly so poetically.

I like this one too, Georges. I don't know why, but the cosmos seems to bring out the best in you :)

Thank you both for your kind comment's, as i tried to explain earlier, Leonard brings out of all of us that know him, some reaction to his work. To me, poetry is the vehicle of Leonard, both in his music and his novels etc. I feel inspired and thank you both again for your kind words. I hope my simple poem can cause some people to think rather than just live.

So do I, Kush....though I've concluded it's scientifically impossible that we are alone in all of this vastness....much less spiritually impossible, i.e. those realms exist only for us....seems a bit arrogant to me.
Yes, Georges, you did this one well, expressing those confounding queries we have so often had.
I like your Brel quote, Kush.

I like the questioning Georges!
The beginning of it means that the answers are near....

I have been studying this piece for the last 8 years and have come to the following important conclusion. I am certain that if he were alive today the golf Legend, Arnold Palmer, would be thrilled by your tribute to him.

My dearest Georges,

If, as I suspect, this poem is not about the famous golf legend Arnold Palmer
(although let's not tell Harry S. that, he's spent a lot of time on this, it seems).. anyway, if that be the case.. well.. maybe this will help allay some of your more cosmological doubts, my love.. (when are you returning to Colonial Suicide, by the way?.. we're about to reach the -- oh, never mind)..

.. oh, and the other reason you're not alone is that you have me, silly..
