NEW CD by SEAN HUNT (daka) and JEM HOBBS
Sean Hunt lived in Leonard's neighborhood in Montreal, also became a monk for 9 years, lived on a mountain, hung out with a holy man (Show me The Place), and then returned to lay life and music.
With my collaborator Jem Hobbs we released this CD last week, a compilation of songs very much influenced by Leonard Cohen's music. Have a listen to the songs at this link:
http://jemhobbsseanhunt.bandcamp.com/al ... er-the-sun
The lyrics are available to be read online
As I say in the preamble to the CD: what you will find and will not find in the CD..."Everything Under The Sun"...
.....What you will find in this CD:
- completely original songs (from themes learned and borrowed)
- a selection of interesting instruments well played
- some ancient wisdoms
- a friend's father's meaningful dream described
- some important common cognitive errors revealed
- relationship mind-pain described
- Colonel Qadaffi, Jesus and the "Ancient Mariner" mentioned in the same verse, possibly (probably) for the first time
- how much we hallucinate without knowing that we do so
- a song that attempts to describe Highest Yoga Tantra simply
- a very simple ditty, a summary song, outro of sorts, synthesising my personal understanding of "Yoga of Inconceivability" teachings
- many references to the ultimate nature of reality, which is the answer to the very important question that we all have: "What's It All About?"
What I hope that you will not find in this CD:
- silly little love songs
- intentional musical dissonance or arrogance
- meandering meaninglessness
- contrived and intentionally obtuse poetic aural masturbation intending to lead you down a path that leads nowhere
- disturbing noise (hopefully)
I will be eternally grateful to Venerable Tharchin for pointing me in the right directions for 20 years, and then insisting repeatedly during the last few months that Jem and I follow through with completing this CD, for the benefit and enjoyment of others..
Sean Hunt, Glasgow, March 31st, 2013
I hope you enjoy

Hi daka/Sean ~
I've just listened once, all the way through... each song on your album.
I've been thoroughly enjoying it.
Will return to individually ask some questions and make comments.
Well done

I am so glad you are enjoying some of this CD, Lizzie. It is very rewarding to know that our artistic, poetic and melodic presentations of some personal perspectives on important existential truths are appreciated. The wonders of cyberspace!

Hi Sean,
now I've managed to listen to your complete album — first had to find out how that software works, and then it was easy.
And "easy" is my first impression. Easy texts, of the kind "everybody could write that" (unless they try...), easy melodies (I'm no musician at all, so I can't comment on that) which fit in nicely, by contrast, with the contents of despair.
Like a flower turning harmoniously within the whirlpool of samsara, until in the last song the river of Impermanence takes over again and washes them away, both the flower and the whirlpool.
There'll surely be more to come — with time...
For now: I like it!
