Famous Blue Raincoat by Allison Crowe

Post by jarkko »

Allison Crowe has recorded/released two different versions of Leonard’s song – one choral, one solo voce.

“Through These Heavy Graces” is the title of Allison’s new album containing the cover(s).

Perhaps the simplest place to hear the full versions is on the “Bandcamp” site @:

Thanks to Allison's manager Adrian du Plessis for the information!

Thanks, so much, Jarkko!

Allison always delights in interpreting the brilliant works of Leonard Cohen, and it's always a pleasure and treat to visit the Files - and the Forum here :)

fyi, for those who enjoy some visuals as well, in an impressionistic, non-literal, way - the two versions of "Famous Blue Raincoat" can be seen and heard at these links, the music accompanied by scenes from director Josef von Sternberg's 1930/31 b/w gem, "The Blue Angel":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHR7NU8jdyQ - solo voce

This classic movie can be experienced in full @ http://archive.org/details/theblueangel1930

Thanks, again! Happy Hallowe'ek everyone! :D
