First-- understand how book trailers usually work. A publishing company or an author will hire another company to produce a trailer-- a short video promoting the book, like a movie trailer. That company uses images and music and creates a storyline which explains the book. The company uses video, photos, and music from either paid sources, i.e., istockphoto etc, or simply grabs them free off the internet somewhere. They will often take these photos and crop them or darken them or otherwise enhance them. So one might see, for instance, a recognizable castle or shoreline which has been changed slightly to fit into the storyline.

Of course, they also use images of people. Most are just regular folks whose photos have been sold to istock or getty images or whatever.

Maybe I am just spending too much time in Leonard Land, but... well... tell me what you see:

It does look alot like him, so I don't think your perception stems from too much time in Leonard Land (unless I'm spending too much time there too. . .); but it's kind of scary (& kind of funny) that someone might just grab his image from somewhere (if it's him) & use it to represent "sinister forces"

Yes, the ear is different, as well as some other features, & viewing the photos side by side (thanks, Helen), I don't think it's him (whew!). But to be fair to scocoh, there is something of a resemblance, esp. when one is not seeing the images next to each other.

I do believe they may have used a photo of Leonard from an earlier time...a very black photo. No idea why they might have selected this particular photo, but guess it sort of works. The ears are in shadow, and ears can change in 15 years or so when one is older. But the nose, and the lines of the mouth are right on. Of course, in the big scheme of things it really doesn't matter, does it? Just interesting.
