Yet another great gig by Leonard and the band. I will write more soon, but just wanted to announce that there has been a new, quite unique addition to the setlist: George Jones "Choices". Leonard dedicated it to him since he has died recently.
It was a very nice song and a good performance. I hope that it stays in the setlist.
Thanks for your concert report. Looking forward to hearing more when you can.
Yes Leonard played Choices in Winnipeg and I was there to hear it as was Joy E.
Great he is playing it again so more can hear it.
Cheers

That was so exciting, wasn't it Leslie? I don't think it was caught on video in Winnipeg, so maybe this time.....

About the fifth time I've seen Leonard & the band and thought they were in really great form! Super performance and definitely no staleness there!
Great version of George Jones "Choices", violin is a superb addition. Famous Blue Raincoat was fantastic, Partisan and Lover Lover Lover are also sounding exceptionally good. The new album tracks are also really well done. Also, Leonard seems more at ease (maybe it is the last of his big tours). The band is really comfortable together and to those going to the forthcoming concerts, ENJOY! You have a great night in store.
Thought the crowd took their time to get going but as everyone knows Leonard does a three hour plus performance so I think the crowds pace themselves a bit, not us Leonard fans, we're on it from the off. But the crowd reaction is no reflection on the band, they are really in superb form!
Well done Leonard, another great performance, don't leave us, keep going for many years yet!
I totally agree, it was a very good performance . Was lucky enough to have a couple of centre frow row seats and. together with my daughter (15) totally enjoyed the show. It was my third show since 2010 and Leonard and his band haven't lost any of there magic on stage. For my daughter is was her first concert and I pretty sure she is infected to .
One thing did annoy me however and that was the noise of the airsystem (?) in the Arena. During intimite songs like "Alexandra Leaving"or "If it be your will" the was a constant high pitch from the ( i think) airventing system in the roof of the Arena which totally interferred with the songs and annoyed me after a while. . And once you notice that you can't "think" it away
Never had that experience in other venues.
But let's stay positive, it was very much worth the 500km drive to Mannheim and am already looking forward to his concert in Holland where I will get my other daughter infected

Happiness is just the side effect of a meaningful life.
Though it was a rather small meetup, it should not pass unnoticed:
The Mannheim meetup took place in a small Italian restaurant, smokers-friendly outside.
Participants were only the creme della creme (plus me): Conny, Caren, Regina, Hans + Harald / Frauke and Henrik passed by and stayed
Being non announced and rather badly organized (by ourselves) the meetup turned out to be a very pleasant start - red wine in the sun in the best company - for a wonderful concert. Bye, bye was: See you on the next concert.

I've come across the first critical review of the concert. I tend to disagree with the critic in one or two minor points, but overall, it's worth having a look at. I hope there will be more reviews to come with slightly more substance with respect to the actual music (this one, however, is a quick first post, the critic did not have a lot of time to write it, and I have the feeling, it was the young man with the Russian cap sitting next us in block 105 ).
(Got to be going right now, but will translate asap. Sorry for the delay. )
BTW: I posted some of my experiences at Mannheim in the "stale"-thread: viewtopic.php?f=75&t=33576#p333051 (didn't want to crosspost, hope the link here's ok).
EDIT 2. July: Translation's not forgotten, nearly there.
