feist + woven hand

Post by tomsakic »

Feist, Let It Die - Canadian singer-songwriter. Any comments? I hear her as the new Canadian in the great line after LC. Everybody are crazy about her, although it seems to me - as with Rufus Wainwright - that some people are discovering America again; it's all already done by other singer sonwriters or by LC at least. (You know, people who never heard for LC and are listening only popular, commercial and mainstream music, suddenly go crazy about Rufus, Feist, other Bonnie Prince Billy, on their very first recordings, thinking it's never heard before). Anyway, very Leonard Cohenish.

I just saw that David Eugene Edwards released his thirs album under the name of Woven Hand, Consider the Birds. That man is only great successor of Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen. Now I won't be able to sleep until I put my hand on the original disc.

Tom you know we agree on many musicians - but I don't get the David Eugene (ex 16-Horsepower) hype.

Real successors are

Bonnie Prince Billy (as is mentioned by you)

and

Simon Joyner

and

hopefully

more

to

come

Oh, I can't help myself while I'm listening to this Edwards's voice.
Tonight we have Terry Lee Hale here, as you noted me, but I won't be able to attend because on Thursday night I'm giving the regular art film screening at the local cinema club. (I'm starting the Polanski month  ).
What do you think about Feist? I listen her this morning on my way to job, I think she started to go under my skin.

I have heard the name Feist before but don't know her music yet. I was in Berlin from November 8 til 14 - officially to learn how to do deal with a Websphere Application Server. Half-hearted I sat and listened. But as you might know I am interested in the city because of another mission and I returned home with good results. On November 10 I had the chance to see that wonderful Canadian singer Jorane. The next day I picked singer/songwriter Jolie Holland. The same day there was Feist playing at another location as I found out today on her website. Critics praise her outstanding performance. If only I had known this before I would have gone there. But two Canadians in a row would have been probably too much to swallow. Ah these Canadians .... our destiny !
