When Bob Dylan was there, he was on for about 20 mins. So don't expect anything more than that.
Hardly worth being out all evening on a cold September day if that is all us in the UK are worth.

Underwhelming.
As previously alluded to, there must be a reason we have been so obviously overlooked again.
Multiple dates in multiple european countries - and one wet/windy field for UK?
Have we unwittingly offended?
The availability of dates - and practical considerations - surely allow for more than this?
Most would be happy with one 'northern' and one 'southern' indoor date - maybe next year?
I know we have been spoilt previously (and I am eternally grateful for those memories), but please do not forget England/Scotland/Wales next time.
I would love to attend some of the european dates, but - unfortunately - times are hard.
Roll on 2013!

Urgh - I went to the Hop Farm Festival for Dylan two years ago and it was awful. Poorly organised, eg a roasting hot day and no water anywhere, had to queue for 45 mins to buy overpriced cider (they'd run out of bottled water!!) so missed Mumford and Sons set, had a fairground ride blocking the view of the main stage, their shuttle bus was crap, I vowed never again, and I think that sadly I'm going to stick to it. Luckily I'm going to Dublin, and I'll hang on for possible future dates next year. Poor choice Leonard.

Leonard Cohen has announced a one-off UK outdoor show for later this year.

The singer, who released his 12th studio album 'Old Ideas' in January, will headline a new event put on by the promoters of Hop Farm Festival, which is named A Day At Hop Farm.

The show takes place on September 8 at Hop Farm Country Park in Kent and will have a capacity of around 10,000. Cohen will play a three-hour set and will also have a full supporting bill playing before him. It will be Cohen's only UK show of his 2012 world tour.

Speaking about the event, promoter Vince Power said: "To get the opportunity to bring Leonard Cohen to the UK for his only appearance this year is a fantastic and humbling achievement. He is one of the undisputed forefathers of modern folk music and has honed his craft for nearly half a century. We are delighted he's decided to perform for us for what will be a truly memorable experience."

If this were an old-style, laid-back, smoke-a-joint, listen to the music type festival it would be great. However I fear it will attract the mobile-thrusting, 15 seconds of youtube fame, banner-waving, "look at me Lenny" type mob! Whatever it's like I'll miss it, because it's one of the rare days of the year when I have a work commitment that I can't change.

Leonard Cohen is to play a one-off outdoor show in the UK this summer – with a mammoth set lasting more than three hours. The 77-year-old singer, famed for songs such as Hallelujah, I'm Your Man and Suzanne, will play at the Hop Farm in Kent on 8 September.

It will be his only UK show of the year and will feature classics as well as tracks from his new album Old Ideas.

Promoter Vince Power said: "To get the opportunity to bring Leonard Cohen to the UK for his only appearance this year is a fantastic and humbling achievement. He is one of the undisputed forefathers of modern folk music and has honed his craft for nearly half a century."

The venue at Paddock Wood also hosts the Hop Farm Music festival in June, headlined by Bob Dylan.

Tickets go on sale to members of Cohen's fan club on Thursday, and on general sale on Friday.

Given that there's been so much fuss about touts and tickets, it's interesting that the presales are being mentioned in the press releases. Was this always the case?

I was quoting from Hop Farm's own website. They say they are selling seats, not me. It's a smaller event that the summer festival and it seems likely that the set up will be different. Whether they are reserved seats or not is a different matter but I've cancelled an appointment at 9.00 am tomorrow just in case!

It all sounds hideous and will probably be ludicrously expensive...glad I opted for Ghent! Seems a barbaric choice for an LC concert IMO.
