BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN TO RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM 'WRECKING BALL' ON MARCH 6; EUROPEAN DATES AND SXSW KEYNOTE SPEECH CONFIRMED
Bruce Springsteen's new album 'Wrecking Ball' has been set for March 6 release on Columbia Records. Marking his 17th studio album, 'Wrecking Ball' features 11 new Springsteen songs and was produced by Ron Aniello with Bruce Springsteen and executive producer Jon Landau. A special edition of 'Wrecking Ball' will also be available and include two bonus tracks and exclusive artwork and photography.
'Wrecking Ball' Song Titles:
We Take Care of Our Own
Easy Money
Shackled and Drawn
Jack of All Trades
Death to My Hometown
This Depression
Wrecking Ball
You've Got It
Rocky Ground
Land of Hope and Dreams
We Are Alive
Said long-time manager Jon Landau, "Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life. The lyrics tell a story you can't hear anywhere else and the music is his most innovative in recent years. The writing is some of the best of his career and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on 'Wrecking Ball.'"

Jon Landau tells Rolling Stone that the record is an ambitious "big-picture piece of work. It's a rock record that combines elements of both Bruce's classic sound and his Seeger Sessions experience, with new textures and styles." Music was played for Sony recently, according to The Hollywood Reporter, whose source described the songs as having "unexpected textures – loops, electronic percussion... influences and rhythms from hip-hop to Irish folk rhythms." ... The LP also has a "very pronounced spiritual dimension," adds Landau.

What do you think of "We Take Care of Our Own"? It reminds me of some of the songs on Magic which I admit for me took some getting used to.

Musicmania,
Heard it twice, back to back just now. The second time was with the lyrics on this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3Bz0d2xm7U. Liked it better the second time reading the lyrics on the video.
Initial impression is that it's an agenda song... I'm not sure how much I'll grow into it, no matter how well intentioned
it may be. Lots going on during the listens and will have to listen again more intently when time and circumstances
allow. Heard the absence of Clarence Clemons on the song.

Hi Steven, I saw it with and without lyrics too and like you I preferred it with lyrics. I also missed Clarence
The tour won't be the same without him. Looking forward to March 6th and hearing the full album and of course the tour

Patriotism coupled with darkness - a familiar Bruce theme. With the strong rhythm sounds like a good live bet! There's not much that's different about the track, though. But usually I find the Tour gets me into a new studio album so my verdict will be on hold awhile.
There will be a huge gap onstage with the Big Man gone, but I recall the Human Touch/ Lucky Town Tour didn't feature him - in the early 90's the band sort-of split up - yet the shows were still outstandingly rockin' good. So I guess we'll manage without him:-(

This song by Kareem Salama reminded me of Springsteen and Clarence Clemons ....Kareem Salama is a country singer-songwriter of Egyptian descent I have posted some of his stuff before.

Re: Bruce Springsteen Tour 2012
I have been listening to some of the new tracks and this sounds like it could be a doozy.....unlike the last couple of albums. It also sounds like he might be taking himself a bit too seriously but I guess I need to actually hear the album before I make that judgment. I am not a fan of this class warfare, anti-banker, populist stuff. But if the music is good the rest doesn't matter....
Re: Bruce Springsteen Tour 2012
Hi Kush,
I've only heard two tracks. Am going to purchase the album upon its release. Like you, I'm withholding
judgment till I hear it. If the album turns out to feel like a bully pulpit to me, that could very well
lessen my appreciation for it. Townes Van Zandt said that the only song that he set about with an
intention to cover a situation was "Marie." The situation was homelessness. In that case, it doesn't
feel like an agenda but music art. Purposefulness of cause is often at odds with art. There's much
precedent for Springsteen in creating music that's enjoyable, yet not "art" per se. Won't be much
longer to hear what the Boss has done with this one. (If anyone wants to go for a discussion of
what "art" is, feel free. Probably won't participate though.)

Hi Kush and Steven. Is a 'doozy' something good, or something bad?
I've only heard so far the title track, and the new single, and the old and excellent song, Land of Hope and Dreams. I don't know what to do anymore, about the myriad reviews and samples that appear before an album is "released", so I just kinda avoid most of them:-)
This is my favourite performance of Land Of, from Live in Barcelona, esp. because of

as ever, it's the energy of the live performances that keep me close to the boss, but I will be interested to reflect on the lyrics too, when I get the cd.
