However, be careful because if someone downloads the song and posts it on Youtube, they will be able to track it back to you thanks to their "tatouage numérique". Depends on whether you want to risk it!
So they don't protect their files as well as I thought!
You're right remote1, it's too risky and I don't want to spend my life in jail  That's why I removed the clip and it's not available anymore with the link I sent.
But if someone would like to obtain this video (for private use only!), just let me know and I could send another link privately ;-)

The INA makes a lot of copyright complaints against YouTubers and has destroyed many an account of people who think they are innocently sharing archival work of artists long dead. For this reason, I have seen a call for a boycott of the INA, their website, their products, and I agree.
Copyright is fine to protect the living artist who needs to make his living, but when the INA thinks it and it alone has the right to collect for artists long dead, I don't think that's fair at all. It's like the library thinking it has all the rights to Shakespeare.
So, I would never buy from the INA on principal.

Sounds fair enough. As much as I enjoy watching the video, I found the process of acquiring it somewhat unpleasant, and the overall tone of the website slightly aggressive. And even though Leonard is well alive, I very much doubt that he cares about the royalties (if any) that he will get from people paying $2 to download this particular video... Someone else is stuffing their pockets. I shall certainly join the boycott from now on!

"The Guests" is only a preview and costs 1.50 euros ($2 or £1.30) to download: http://www.ina.fr/video/I07212588/leona ... ts.fr.html
The Thierry Ardisson interview of Leonard Cohen with Dominique Isserman is free to watch: http://www.ina.fr/ardisson/bains-de-min ... ip.fr.html

INA stands for "Institut National de l'Audiovisuel" and is a French TV and radio archives site.

It's a beautiful version of "The Guests" and Leonard looks absolutely gorgeous. Also a treat for fans of Raffi Hakopian’s violin!

Hoping that this is not old news to all of you experts! :D

SALUT remote1 !

Your messages are great.
Access to files is no longer great.
I took advantage of your instructions. Logged in successfully. I entered all the data and was accepted. I clicked the "buy" and filled the basket. And that ended my successes :? . When you click "confirm" appeared to form (again!) To complete. This time, the system on the internet demanded inclusion of the full postal address and an even more detailed personal data. That's not fair. In the end I became legally logged-in customers, and yet I can not buy access to the files. For nothing here is not useful knowledge of French.
It's just my opinion, spoof the client. Collecting all the data to then fill spams.Such is my opinion. I'm disappointed. If any of you on the forum managed to download one of these files?
I have very good programs that support (supplements if in doubt).

best wishes

Salut Jeremek!

Oh dear, my link seems to be causing more grief than is worth!

Marine and I obviously managed to download the video successfully, and there was no indication that data was being collected to spam people (this is a serious national website). I am wondering if the screen you got when you clicked "confirm" was the payment form, which would obviously require your address and credit card details. Or was it something else? I certainly did not get that, but my browser blocks pop-up windows. I suspect that if it is not the payment form, then it is probably a pop-up window that you can skip.

Let me know! I check the forum regularly during the day (keeps me company while I'm working! ;-) )

Hi Jeremek,

I agree that INA's website is not user friendly, even if I'm French it was not easy to download the file.
I did once again the download process to understand your problem.
When you are logged in and have already added the file to your basket, you can access your basket with "Accéder à mon panier" and then "Valider mon panier" as remote1 said earlier in the thread. So now you should see the personal data you filled in to obtain your account. By the way you don't have to put your real address since it's just used if you command a DVD, the only important information is your e-mail address.
Then click on "Poursuivre ma commande" and "Régler avec ma CB" on the next page which should redirect you to another site, something like secure.ogone.com, fill in the information and click on "Oui je confirme mon paiement". As remote1 said, it's possible that this page appears like a pop-up window.
After that, I don't remember very well. (I didn't give INA the pleasure to pay twice for the same file ;-) ). I think I received a download confirmation by e-mail.

Anyway, if you're not fussy with the video quality I filmed it with my camera and it's available here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/315347/lc_theguests2.m4v
Nevertheless, the sound is good. And I'm sure I won't have problem with their "numerical tatoo"

Thanks for posting that Marine, it is fantastic! :D
The little preview was so short it was just a tease really but I was put off by the trouble people were having with the download. Even those that spoke some French and mine extends to 'Bounjour' and 'cafe au lait avec sucre' which may not have helped me much! I also doubt that Leonard sees any of that money, it will be going to INA.
He is obviously singing with a backing track?

Uff... Marine. Thank you ! It's a great relief. Really. You saved my nerves
Do you have the interview ?
I do not think we took something Mr Cohen. Always buy everything legally CD, DVD, books. This is not just the file we buy in any store. This file is nowhere we buy. Great to have it just for yourself. Such a gem (pearl).

JE VOUS SALUE Marine et remote1

Next time I'll try and make less complicated suggestions, promise!

Hi remote1,

I tried to PM you but it's disabled. I've been meaning to say this for a few days now. I just wanted to say thank you for all your efforts in helping me to try to download this video. I haven't been successful but I really appreciated your efforts to help. I've now got Marine's camera video for which I'm grateful. At last I actually got to see it. If you hadn't done your research I wouldn't have been able to see it at all. This is my favourite LC time line.

Hey B4real

It was a pleasure! I was really excited when I found the video, and then disappointed that nobody could get hold of it... At least Marine did a fantastic job (but obviously the HD video is something you can watch over and over again - amazingly, I had to download the new version of their Divx Player last night as they refused to let me play it in the version that I had downloaded only a week or so ago, and then they required my username and password again...)

As for Private Messages, it's true that I usually disable everything... When online, I like to be the Remote1; it allows me to express myself more freely! :D

The whole clip is now available on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1vZIFOIcBc. There's a great bit around 3.20 to 3.40. Enjoy!

ah Natalie,

It's been over a year and a half since we first tried to view this!! You always find a way to sort things out. 8) ....and 'some things' are definitely worth waiting for. :D

....it's also interesting to re-read old conversations again. ;-)

Thank you so much - I was the first one to see the video.
