Nice to see you back, Phil, looking forward to more of your fun. I have a number of relatives here and cannot even find my computer at the moment, let alone write on it, so will have to catch up here and elsewhere next week. I hope you all had a good easter and didn't eat too much chocolate.

Thanks Diane
It is so nice to hear that you have family staying with you . As my old man used to say ; "family is everything relatively speaking "
Jean and I along with Ian and Sally have just had 8 days in San Francisco to attend a wedding where Ian was best man to his childhood friend who moved out there to live . His best man speech was good but didnt last long because there is a tradition in Yorkshire that the best mans speech is supposed to last the same time as it takes a Yorkshireman to make love > So he was up and down in no time if you parden the expression !
While we were there I couldn't stop humming the famous song I left my heart in San Francisco by Tony Bennett but the lyrics came back to haunt me by the end of the holiday ;
I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO (given that a yorkshiremans love is his wallet this line is very appropriate )
HIGH ON A HILL IT CALLS TO ME ( Too bloody right the calling of a taxi to get up and down all those godforsaken mountains )
TO BE WHERE LITTLE CABLE CARS CLIMB HALFWAY TO THE STARS ( very true but only after a 3 hour wait to get on one )
THE MORNING FOG MAY CHILL THE AIR i DONT CARE ( this is true i am past caring having paid 40 dollars for the sightseeing tour only to look out of the bus window at the thickest peasouper you have ever seen )
MY LOVE WAITS THERE IN SAN FRANCISCO ( we went to Alcatraz on the last day and they kept my lovely Jean ;something to do with tax evasion i think )
ABOVE THE BLUE AND WINDY SEA (the windy bit might be referring to the dip i had the day after we visited a lovely Indian restaurant all you can eat for dollar . But the colour is baffling we had pompadons and pickles )
WHEN I COME HOME TO YOU SAN FRANCISCO (Never going to happen i like my black pudding and whippet racing too much )
YOUR GOLDEN SUN WILL SHINE FOR YOU ( as is always the case only on the last day while we were stuck in the departure lounge )

other wise we had a lovely time but please mr bennett do a bit more research before you use that wonderful voice of yours . Better still have a holiday in San Fran!

I spent 3wks in San Fran, I stayed in the Castro area, I walked aross the Golden Gate Bridge, went to Alcatraz, dined at the Top of the Mark on Nob Hill, spent a full day going up and down on the Cable Cars. Another full day in Golden Gate Park, Watched a bit of the film Milk with Sean Penn, being made but, I did not see him. Loved Pier 39 and the seal's. You Name it I did, I made the most of everyday. Now this is from a woman who had no intrest in America, but I LOVED IT as a city it is friendly, and I thought wonderful. I went in Janurary, and sorry the sun was out everyday, no sign of a pea souper. I had a full day going up to Montery, 17 mile Drive, and Carmal, sorry to rub it in Y.L again all in beautifull sunshine. I did leave my Heart in San Fran. :D :D :D :D
Oh I forgot to throw in the 3 days in Las Vega's, again all in beautiful SUNSHINE. I do realize I am now in your bad books. :(

My dear friend Denise I do not have a bad book where I put people . That would be such a pointless exercise in this short life we live . Everyone has views and opinions which will not always conform to mine but that is part of why being alive is so exciting ! But surely you realised that most of my last post was just a wind up and a bit of light hearted fun . Infact we quite enjoyed San Fran with its hills and fog . We found the people charming and helpful , the atmosphere vibrant and the whole experience was something I will remember for a long time .
Meeting people of different cultures and nationalities adds perspective to your life which can only make you a better person Thats why Jean and I like the LC conventions so much and we will continue to attend them whenever we can ! Thats assuming I can get her released from Alcatraz in time for Madison
Happy days

Of couse Y.L, I knew it were a wind up, but just had to say how much I loved it, and I tried to get out of going, glad to say I lost. I rearly hope you have a good plan to break, your beloved Jean, out of Alcatraz. :)

There's nothing wrong with Blackpool except that it's in Lancashire ! But I suppose somebody has to live there

One of my cousins who visited has a new spouse who hails from Barnsley so as you can imagine, I've suffered Liverpool jokes every night this week! I best not repeat them:-)

I don't mean to be rude but I would appreciate it if you do not mention my name to him because if he is from Barnsley there is every chance I owe him some money .

Phil - you are joking. There will be medicine checks before the tour starts and that's no joke. This thing has been started for a certain reason and I won't make any compromises just for the sake of a song.

Phil, that is why I gave up Facebook for the summer, I need to get my ass out of the chair and into the fresh air. I have a feeling that with so many Germans on this tour, it will be quite tough

... i hope you explain to k c and budie that they are in no way obligated to play any leonard cohen toons over the weekend......i'm sure they will understand that the only reason we plan these trips calling ourselves a leonard cohen group is in the hope that the mention of leonard's name will scare the locals away....a ploy that worked brilliantly in wales....ta ken
