Our long-time member in Australia, Andrew (Darby) is our newest moderator!

There has been a lot of spam activity recently, and we try to delete the spammers as soon as possible. It's useful to have one of the moderators in Australia - this helps in making use of the different time zones (most of the spammers come from China and that area).

By the way - everybody make sure your password is a strong one!! Not "Leonard" or something one may easily guess. Use both letters and numbers. Recently some spammers or other saboteurs have tried to log-in using other members's forum names and testing random passwords. Our software is locking the account after three attempts with false passwords. (If the system complains at your log-in that you have entered wrong password too many times, and you have therefore to go through the visual test again, that's the reason. Someone has tried to misuse your forum name but has not found the correct password. So please everybody - make your password stronger if it isn't. Just go to the User control panel and change your PSW!!!

Looking at all the Spam, you're clearly needed at the front line.
It's good to see that you're filling in a space for another time zone and greater coverage.

You are much needed in your time zone. The bulk of my time on the forum is spent after midnight EST in the US. I do see a ton of spam coming in at those late hours here - how annoying. You think 'yippie more new posts' only to have to report the post - I don't need anymore shoes. At least we (or at least I haven't) haven't seen any porno stuff for quite a while. Having you there should take care of these right away.

Hi Andrew,

So great to see you appointed to this necessary task and as an Australian representative too

As a result of some discussion with other forum members here a few weeks ago the same thing was happening to me. I changed my password then to a much stronger one and am still getting used to it! I wish the spammers would use their powers for good not evil!

It's slightly off topic but I heard on another forum there was an exploit attempted; a new member was PM'ing people asking that they e-mail them back, (for some lame reason). If one does so, they have a legitimate e-mail address and will use it for mischief. If one get a such a request from a relative newbie i would suggest that they report it or PM a moderator about the request.
