Now that I know the author is not a forum member, I can go public with my personal view. This re-mix, rapping or whatever the name for this technique, does not resonate with me. I listened to the entire first clip to be able to assess it honestly. The other clips I stopped listening early on. When others cover his songs and poems that's one thing. But when I hear Leonard Cohen singing and reciting his own works, I like to hear them the way HE chose to present them.

As we say, different strokes for different folks.

Thanks for the clarification, and for your honesty! And thanks for the links, which enabled me to find several other Cohen remixes on youtube that are quite fun (for those of us who go for that sort of thing).

Personally, I think that Leonard would be okay with these remixes, since he always seems to enjoy other people covering his work, and this is just another way to keep his songs alive, and for the songs to reach a different audience (and, the techno fans may want to hear the originals, and then become Cohen converts!).
