You let them have their way with you and that is exactly what will happen.

"butt in"? I think you are looking for Jack's asshole thread.

This thread is the one where Jack tries mathematically to prove that his lines about " dispreached by the diamonds under his knees" and his "lover/cover" rhyme are actually good because he knows their secret meaning.

.. yes, but, I thought I helped to expand the A**hole thread so that all of us (A**holes?) might butt in.. As to this thread.. I'm still not sure I get what "dispreached" means.. I thought I'd re-read the whole thing, though, before I admitted that.. but you forced the subject.. (which sounds awful given the other subject you brought up, and anyway I've heard it's really not good for you to do that)..

.. I wrote in this small print for the very reason that I knew you would humiliate me, in this case for not grasping the meaning of "dispreached," and so I was hoping, you being 83 years old, might not be able to read it, and so I might be spared such humiliation.."..

ok I am going to guess what you wrote in the illegible spiel

"Dear Lion of Lions, our Mane Man, thank you for not taking anything seriously, thank you for exposing posing pompous preachers who justify poor poetry by pretending and pleading private and personal positions. Although you are much too harsh on bad writers you are, just, on the side of good and justice"

Lion of Lions

btw When was the last time you dined out and had a crap meal and then the creepy chef said "It is not bad for me because I know why I made that meal and I know that I have a very kind reason for doing so and I know that who it is intended for will be pleased" and did you magically feel all better and did the food magically taste all better and did you shout "hooray" many times, and did you shed many tears of happiness now the chef had explained everything to you.

or was the meal still crap because it tasted crap?

You are not wrong Violet (though I would have chosen 'intriguing' over 'adorable' to describe Jack)...

...but I think that Lion of Lions is a teensy-weensy bit jealous of the attention that Ramblin' Jack gets from the Ladies of the Forum

Let's all offer LOL a group hug: mmmmm000000000000000

XO

PS: I have an interpretation for 'Dispreached' and for 'diamonds under his knees', gotta fly now, but I'll come back shortly, throw caution to the wind and explain...

(I have to quit those damned elipses!)

you are of course both right.

~ ~ ~

It doesn't seem likely that the quick witted Lion of lines would be jealous , as he's quite delicious (for a hamburger or piece of smelly cheese) and certainly gets lots of attention and affection.

But Cate (yes, I know a sentence should not start with a conjunction, Manna),

Didn't LoL write somewhere that he particularly loved group hugs in the Poetry section?

To be deserving of a group hug of the magnitude I offered, he first had to be dispreached of his lack of jealousy of Jack.

haha - when you wrote LOL before I thought you were meant laugh out loud, I thought you were having some random fit of laughter

yes of course your right, a giant group hug is in order - lets put him in the middle and cover him with arms and kisses.

okay - I'm going to take a break from screens (other then work ones) for a couple of days - big love to everyone.

I know some – if not all – are waiting with bated breath for this interpretation of

'Dispreached
by diamonds
under his knees'

So here is my offering (I'm being serious here, I get a kick out of Jack's offbeat ideas, and especially enjoy his stories):

Leonard (or the one in the poem), was kneeling (submissive, as is appropriate when one is being preached to or disciplined), but there were these little jabs (I was going to say 'pricks' but thought better of it) he felt in his knees that kept distracting him, kept demanding his attention. So he moved from his kneeling position to remove what he thought were mere pebbles under his knees, and found, on closer examination, that the pebbles were actually diamonds in the rough, of far more worth than what the preacher was droning on about! Most people would have brushed them aside in annoyance and continued to kneel, without examining what they were discarding (or dispreaching, if you like). However Leonard (or the one in the poem) was open to being distracted, and more curious than most, which led/leads him to all kinds of extraordinary discoveries, thanks to his open mind and willingness to be dispreached.
