Hope
The whisper it cometh
Above the hills
All ye men
All ye women
Look up in the twilight
Your souls shall be quenched
A new day it dawns
A new truth it speaks
The past is gone by
Take that which refines
It is but this simple
Follow your destiny
To the ends of the earth
Until it knows no bounds
Caress it and work it
Let it ooze henceforth
Let it envelop your senses
Allow it to breathe
Just to giggle and spit
And then let it stand
You can do it I know
You have the strength of an ox
The guile of a serpent
The nous of a fish
The deep river’s calling
“Yes” to the day
The blue sky is singing
“It’s okay, it’s okay”
You are in it, my child
You are in it

Re: Hope and Despair
Hi Adam ~
I like the second one much better than the first. The second's ideas are expressed in unique images and terms. The first one seems rather fraught with various cliches... and I know you don't need to rely on them... unless your intent is to express "Hope" as being a grandiose cliche; but I don't really think that was your intent.
I hope you're doing well... as always, it's great to see you here!
