Suicide

Post by George.Wright »

and the root of all evil is ignorance
and the devilish dervish whirrled into a trance
a gyration here and there, and this cosmic dance
tripped into an enclave labelled romance
and the circles elongated into a square
there were not any gyrations left there
and changed again into a shape of a pear
infinity replicated we all stood and stared
if anyone believed what happened in that moment of truth
the dancer turned into a burning bush
which spat out tablets of broken stone
petrified alone in front of the appeared throne
and the figure sat in a beard, appeared motionless
unlike the circles which had called his caress
and the angels with great swords barred the acess
no one would get close to kiss and ask his bless
and the unicorn appeared out of a fiery sky
and no one could see the patch over it's eye
or the fact that it had acrylic hair
the enclave continued, continued to stare and stare
and the angels started to melt in front of the fire
and the throng were consumed by a great desire
and pan himself came and played his lyre
and the nymphs in the wood danced totally nude
making the bull out of the actions of many a prude
and my feet left earth at an incredible rate
past the sands of time and the question of fate
past light which was slow and could not illuminate the darkness ahead
passing doppler shifts towards the red
and i wakened with a horrible crunching bump
i wish i had never made that suicidal jump

Ciao George,

I hope you are more cheerful today. Your words alarm me. I know it is cold and rainy in Northern Ireland. Perhaps it is the weather affecting you.

Hello George. Are you describing what is sometimes called 'the rope dance' ?
Or perhaps not following the glider pilots mantra of 'flying to the ground is easy, the tricky bit is not to fall out with it.' It is not an exact reference, but as close as I can remember.
Yet another piece of imagery and colour. Thank you.
Byron 'sends his regards.'
"Bipolar is a roller-coaster ride without a seat belt. One day you're flying with the fireworks; for the next month you're being scraped off the trolley" I said that.

George~

You always have such amazing imagery in these 'dreamscapes', George. For some reason this reminds me of lines from Don McLean's 'American Pie': "And when the king was looking down, the jester stole his thorny crown, the courtroom was adjourned....."

George, check out a song from Bruce Cockburn from "Charity of Night".
A song titled "Pacing the Cage"- it begins thus;
Sunset is an angel weeping
Holding out a bloody sword.
No matter how I squint I cannot,
Make out what it's pointing toward.
If you cannot track down the CD I could post the complete lyric.

I have been taking some of my students through a song writing workshop and I was surprised and impressed by the work produced by some of these young minds. Here is an example of one of the better ones that I have set to music for the student writer.

Sarah's Song (Friendship)

The world is always different
It never is the same.
Every day there are new people
Playing a new game.

Sometimes it's large and noisy
We are always feeling there
Knowing that people need you
Knowing that they care.

The sun is bright and shining
High up in the sky
It gives you a great feeling
Though you never wonder why.

Then the clouds appear again and everything goes wrong.
And you feel so invisible, like you just don't belong.
You feel like no one needs you, and the friendships that stuck like glue,
Fall apart into pieces, so you wish that you weren't you.

And then the cycle starts again
So everything goes right.
Now your friends are your friends again,
You're over that bad fight.

So no matter how bad things may seem
Don't you ever lose heart.
Your friends will be with you again,
This time from the start.

Hi Witty Owl ~

I just got a chance to read "Sarah's Song (Friendship)" ~ children know much more than we sometimes give them credit for, don't they. Hers is a very nice poem.

I mentioned to my record-store owner that you had referenced and quoted Bruce Cockburn here, and that you used him in your class. He literally got chills when I told him [showed me his goosebumped arm]. He has been telling me about Bruce for several years, and is making me a tape of his music. He admires him to the heights and the depths.
