Threads with political contents to a new section

Post by jarkko »

The following thread is about the political topics on this Forum:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13353&p=152104#p152104

I agree that it's time to do something to the endless political discussions, mainly kept up by a few members only.
I opened a new section for those, at the very bottom of the Forum, and have already moved most of the recent threads there from "Everything Else" (will move more later).
New threads with just political contents in other sections will either be deleted or moved, so please use the new section if you have something to say about how and by whom the world should be ruled.

I don't suppose its possible for the threads added to the new political section to be filtered out of the "recent posts" selection so that the many of us visiting this newsagent to browse the music mags don't get distracted by the latest headlines of the national enquirer?

Hi Jarkko,

Thanks for addressing this. There are so many places that people can politicize/
agendize/inflame/shout at others on the internet. It's unfortunate when this
forum becomes a vehicle for this too. Having said that, I'm sympathetic to the
need for people to sometimes vent, but not when venting is egregiously expressed
to the detriment of others and the forum overall. Thanks again.

Thanks Jarkko...a good compromise! However, I don't think it will please the trolls, even though they now have their own "troll hole"!

All the best, John E

Thank you, Jarkko, from still another one who agrees. Totally appropriate solution.

That's an impressive bit of sucking up Tim.

We now have a Politics section, in the same way we have sections for other matters not linked to Leonard, and you now have even less reason to complain about my perfectly reasonable posts which trouble you so :)

I also have a 'foes' list so i have to make a special effort just to read your posts. So don't worry, I won't be complaining about any of your other posts, reasonable or not. And if you think that was sucking up, you fail to appreciate the history of this forum, of the files, of Jarkko and myself and others. Perhaps you should be more grateful than you appear to be, for the freedom you have here? Enough, anyway, I won't need to complain about your posts, or anyone else's, on here again.
