Tour in US / Western Canada (all threads merged)
Re: Tour in US / Western Canada (all threads merged)
I know I'm getting ahead of the game and nothing has been officially announced, but where do you think would be the best place to see Leonard in the US? I'm definitley thinking that NYC would be one, but would like to take in a West coast concert too.

Hi everyone,
We are hoping that he visits Victoria, BC. He has a huge following on the Island and on the West Coast of Canada.
Happy Christmas to all and may your season be filled with friends, family, peace, love and lots of Leonard Cohen music (my pick these days: "Dear Heather" -- I just never tire of that album; we listen to it all of the time. We dance to it; we sing to it; we decorate to it; we relax . . .
It's time for bed . . .
Good night,
Natalie

I have been dreaming, since the start of the latest tour, for a date at the Orpheum here in Vancouver.

My daughter lives in Victoria, so I'll definitley be going to that concert if it happens. Hopefully Vancouver too if my credit card allows me.

i think our trip from england to the US/Canada is going to be dictated by the size and atmnosphere of the venues announced. would like to go to NYC (have not been for a few years) so if it's carnegie or similar then that's great. if MSG then not going.
similarly if he plays, say great american music hall or similar in SF then that will be the target.
having been to many gigs all over the US before i am open-minded as to the town.
we were lucky in europe that we saw Lennie in intimate theatres (manchester opera house, paris olympia) though we also went to dublin as it was the start of the euro tour.
so, i feel lucky that i am flexible enough to be able to say let's see the theatre list and then decide. however, having been to Vancouver and the BC area, a great theatre over that side of canada would be even better, i think.
what if he played on Vancouver island? Nanaimo? Victoria? wow! love those places
can't wait to see the tour details!

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet - but - it looks like one stop will be at Radio City Music Hall in May. Good for me because I live right next door in NJ.. however - I will be in Holland for two weeks in May (already booked) so may end up missing out. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Hi CPL593H. From LC's management. I recommended a theater in NJ - 'The Wellmont' in Montclair - It's a beautiful, just refurbished early 20th Century theater - I thought it would be cool for some shows... and I was advised that Leonard will 'Likely' be at Radio City Music Hall in May. So...I would say not set in stone - but - looks good.CPL593H: great venue!

Well, if anyone has been paying much attention to the weather in Canada lately (and US as well) there wouldn't be much touring going on anyway. The weather haas been extreme and unpredictable and this has been the norm for the last few years and lasts typically (in Canada anyway) from mid November to March early April. Hiways can be closed (which happens regularly north out of the town where I live) for as much as a week at a time. and temperatures as they have been doing in western canada these past few days can often drop to the -20's (as they are in Alberta as I write this) with windchill into the -40's. I always suspected that Leonard would tour western canada and US in spring/summer 2009 for this reason. And one also has to remember that Canada is a huge country with great distances between major(and minor) cities and towns and the touring equipment has to travel by road.
I never believed that LC had anything against US or Western Canada for that matter, but touring Eastern Canada and Europe where cities are much closer together relatively ... - it just makes sense to wait until then.

Hi everyone,
We had a blizzard last night in Victoria. As for those of you who know the weather out here, it is VERY unusual. We normally have green Christmases.
I thought I'd save this little tidbit as a Merry Christmas to all ye West Coasters trying to stay warm -- brrrrrr. Adam Cohen said that Leonard will be visiting Vancouver in April/March. Naturally, we hope that he comes to Victoria.
Well, back to laundry and being a new mum getting ready for Christmas,
Natalie
