I asked Leonard's management about the online shop earlier this week in London. They plan to get it going by mid-January.

Jarkko,

Is it possible that the on-line shop will carry some of Leonard's art?

Lithographs are regularly marked up to the several thousand dollar range by galleries ( England, Canada)...by selling direct on line, this art would be more affordable.

It would be wonderful to experience the warmth and proximity of some "original" LC .

Merchandise was definitely very expensive but isnt that always the case with tour merch? I really wanted to buy a T shirt but couldnt bring myself to spend £20 on a t shirt. If it was 15, I would have bought it.

Had to settle for a £5 poster...which is also rather overpriced as it isnt even a full priced poster, but it is made of card rather paper I guess. But I would rather have a full sized paper poster than a small card poster.

What next? Leonard Cohen cookie cutters for the festive season, maybe? I hope that Leonard will at least get some of the licensing fees...

I have today deleted a message posted by a member who joined today; he gave a website address to an online shop called "acid---" claiming that their Leonard Cohen T-shirt is a genuine & authorized product.
I checked with Leonard's tour management and can now confirm that it is NOT a genuine product, but an illegal, cheap copy the shop has made using Leonard's photo taken from the cover of the tour book. There are no official items
available on the net, yet!!

Update on Sunday: I have again deleted the same message and discontinued the membership of the person who had posted those ads. As confirmed by Leonard's management, the T shirts are not authorized. Leonard's lawyers will take a closer look at this seller after the holidays, but the company in question can also contact them directly at rkory@rkmgment.com to discuss the rights issues.

I’d also like to point out that there are many fake Leonard signatures/autographs appearing on Ebay recently. Some of them are blatantly not genuine, but I’m afraid people are falling for it (they are attracting bidders all the time, unsurprisingly). I’m not sure what can be done about this, short of Robert Kory et al keeping close tabs on it and reporting those involved, but I presume they have better things to do with their time.

I am Michael (Mihail) Rotenberg, the owner of the Rotenberg Winery in Romania and of course, an admirer (starting in the late sixties) of Leonard Cohen. I was very pleased to see my humble present to Cohen & crew & admirers in your website. For those who are curious to know about my wine, please be so kind and my website name http://www.rotenberg.ro to the collectibles page.Thank you in advance.
About the wine: it is a Merlot aged in new oak. The way we make our wine is described in the site. One contributor to the forum contested the value of Merlot. He should remember that Chateau Petrus, possibly the most acclaimed red wine in the world is a 100% Merlot.
About the name: Teacher and Master is a translation from Hebrew meaning Mentor or Guru and it is the way students address their rabbi. Through his writings Cohen is a mentor to me as he is to some of the guys writing here.
About the idea: I was laying on a hospital bed and gave up traveling to the London concert, when I heard about Bucharest. I was so happy that I ordered 20 VIP tickets for my friends and I decided to issue the 500 bottles of "Teacher and Master". God helped me and I was able to make it to the concert, too.
Leonard was very pleased with the present as his crew was. He thanked me in a mail and a hand written letter, probably one of the best rewards I ever received.
Interesting, part of the venues in Australia are wineries.
If you want more details, pls. visit us at http://www.rotenberg.ro
Happy new year,
Michael Rotenberg

Thank you for the wine and for the story, Michael. You just solved one of the greatest mysteries of that concert! And I think it was a really great gesture. For me, and maybe for many other people, Leonard coming here was some sort of a miracle. I couldn't find a way to say my many, many "thank you-s" to him. I'm glad you did.
