It is obvious, that a rainbow is preceding Mr Cohen every coming. Word of Leonard is following the pastel carpet...

During the concert I didn't do photographs. Any way, it is interesting. In Warsaw nobody could (didn't have chances) to enter with a camera and the camera. And in Berlin so. During the concert the entire room shone from apparatuses. Liberal German policing service? Was there also a special permission from organizers here? People firmly exaggerated.

It is such a small digression.

Actually what bowled me over was important.
Avalanche - Only a voice and the guitar. It is only a surprise ! I thank Mr. LEONARD !!!
Large present I in Loerrach not even got which in Warsaw.
Berlin was distinguished. Probably it appreciates. I hope 8)

I will finish this my story in pictures. These are tickets. At one time they will be a precious souvenir for searchers going along tracks of Leonard. They are already admitting me. I am not throwing away.

Somebody will say. It is only a ticket. Piece of paper. NO ! IT IS A PASS TO SECRET LIFE.

Here a review by the Berliner Zeitung. Sorry - only in german :-(

Bis ans Ende der Liebe
Leonard Cohen gab ein ergreifendes Konzert in Berlin
Sabine Vogel

Und von seinem vielleicht religiösesten Lied "If it be your will" (Dein Wille geschehe), das Antony anlässlich von Cohens 70.

You want to travel blind.

Schön wär's, sagt meine Begleiterin, als Cohen "I'm Your Man" anstimmt.

An so was glaubte er nie.

I'm new here and have just logged in to share my joy for the concert in Berlin yesterday. A massive ceremony being held a few meters away from the remains of the Wall, and magic in spite of the very bad location at this new high-tech machine hall (which is so hated in Berlin).

Can anyone (may be a native speaker) remember better than me Cohen's reference to the financial crisis? While introducing "Anthem" he spoke -if I remember well- of the privilege which means being gathered together like yesterday while there's so much suffering in the world, and "the magic realism of the market place has vanished"; he mentioned the words "moral" and "ethics" and said that's why now, more than ever, we should "ring the bells, that still can ring". Would be nice if someone got the exact words.

Etoile
Not because I took a notepad but because I subscribe to dimeadozen .. what Leonard said was:

"Now that the magic realism of the market place seems to dissolve, and we try to locate a more authentic basis for our activity, may I say: "Ring the bells that still can ring ..."

I was sooooo pleased that Leonard uttered these words - for me it was an intense experience ... such a wonderful concert and second row seats, excellent acoustics and even the extraordinary revelations of the big screen. But in a venue which appeared to be more like a badly designed airport, in which suddenly no one knew where they were going but there were all kinds of internal hierarchies --- VIP class, business class, O2 phone subscriber class, etc, etc ... Perhaps I am reading too much into Leonard's words but I'd like to think that he knew or somehow felt that the venue itself was part of this same magic realism!

I shall not go on about it but I even went to the concert with two Berlin friends who earlier had been protesting against its building! See http://www.spiegel.de/international/ger ... 56,00.html

Anyway, the concert was just superb - Leonard at times the delighted 7 year old at his own party, at times looking the 74 years he is ... and all ages in between. 'Heart with No Companion' lifted the first half to extraordinary heights and the entire place singing 'Then we take Berlin' was a never to be forgotten moment. Thank you Leonard for living the contradictions as honestly as you do everything else and thanks for another wonderful gift.

I am just home this evening from an amazing weekend in Berlin. it was better than Dublin!... i was in the second row and when the people left their seats for the encore.... i ran to the front of stage and there was only a cameraman between me and Leonard. What a man!!.... He danced on that stage and ran around like a little kid.... and even Charley Webb did a cartwheel across the stage !!
He brought tears to my eyes when he sang Famous blue Raincoat.
I have to thank Henning for making this weekend extra special..... for the friday evening dinner, Leonards band joined us and mingled and chatted with us all.... It was so magical. This is me with the sublime Webb Sisters :D
i have not come back down to earth yet !
