Looking for a sign
Re: Looking for a sign
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up. is something interesting going on over here?
Re: Looking for a sign
[Hi Manna... see above and below, etc... and I didn't mean to implicate you in the "sour pus" comment... v.]
Hi Cate,
Thanks for the "Violetish person," that really made me laugh (and I could use that today -- I had a lousy night, if you recall). I think, one reason I've been trying to "cover my tracks" as it were with this thread, is that I was feeling somehow misunderstood, although I wasn't sure where or how, so it became rather exhausting trying to cover all my bases with this stuff. I wasn't angry (although Lorca was and is) [note: see two posts down for a correction of this parenthetical remark], and I didn't even mean to be talking to myself as much as I did, but it seemed like it was necessary for clarification, only that didn't seem to work anyway.
The correct expression is as one word, "schoolmarm" (and so it was very schoolmarmish of you point out the error), and Mr. Webster has this to say: 1) a female schoolteacher esp. in a rural or small-town school 2) a person who exhibits characteristics attributed to schoolteachers (as strict adherence to arbitrary rules) -- schoolmarmish\-ish\adj
Okay, time to get on with my lousy day...

Hey, thanks Casey, by the way, for your own distinctive manner of offering your support (I think I'm finally beginning to understand the differing personalities around here at least!)
many thanks,

Actually, as to the Lorca comment, I take that back. She's not angry -- she just likes playing rough and acting mean. She's too above it all to be angry...

[Violet, trying to focus on all the work that's on her desk... let's listen in on her thoughts...]
(Violet): Gosh, I see my name on a lot of other threads today... only I barely remember even going to those threads... maybe one I remember... How am I ever going to get down to work here when I can barely make sense of anything anymore?... Oh God, if I don't get to these bills today my poor husband really is going to wonder what's happening to me... where's Crescent Moon White Paw? [Violet's tuxedo cat]... there you are [she starts petting him as he gazes at her and starts to purr]... Crescent, you're really the only one that seems to understand me anymore... or maybe Imaginary Friend, she seems to understand, or at least she tries to understand... Oh Leonard, if only you could give me a sign... just one sign... then I'd know that you really do understand...

Re: Looking for a sign
You'll be christened Mannacati, and posted on the News section of the Forum, the Food Network will start fighting over rights, and there'll be a major hoo-hah until Casey steps in to inform you that you don't need to get married, you are already blessed, it's right in front of you, if you would only see. (Remember not to look.)Quick note, Manna and I are not actually married yet
Re: Looking for a sign
Manna - you missed a bit. I'll try to catch you up.
Lets see - Violet started using drugs and calling people names, then there was a horse and a knight - I think Imaginary Friend was the knight - then Michael was saying that was a cliche and I was hitting him with a gun (it's possible I was grumpy after Violet got me all excited about ratchet straps and then wandered off before showing me how to use them.)
where was I ...
Oh yes - Then Imaginary friend said she really didn't have time, because she's training to become a body snatcher, but I think that was just a polite way of getting out of playing cowboys with a possessed Violetish person. Oh Oh - I forgot the part about Violet being possessed by a something or other - who has a passion for cheap motels. michey_one shared a fantasy about us getting married (you and I), but the romantic part of it hinged on us having never met. Mat quickly spun by to discuss the art of weighing things and the grocery. Oh, and Violets husband is thinking of leaving her because she had an affair with Leonard Cohen (which might explain Violets use of British Slang - Leonard having a British Accent and all) ... I think that's about everything.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear V.,
I don’t think it’s fair that Imaginary friend gets to be the good one. Just because she’s clever and nice and sweet. That’s discrimination!
I want armor too! (nothing heavy though) and I want a white horse and a gallant knight – who likes to cook and not ride horses, because the horse is MINE and only mine.
Stomp, Stomp, Stomp - this is NOT fair.
I also want some chocolait!
and since I'm whining
I miss Jack
oh, blah

Re: Looking for a sign
Hi Cate,
I'm afraid I'm not always in complete charge of how this 'Violet' character develops. Once Lorca arrived, she seemed to consume Violet's critical role, and so I haven't quite adjusted to this yet. I think Violet is kind of in her own world right now, and worried about all her blackouts and things, which is why she keeps reaching out for Imaginary Friend or for Leonard, since she already sees them as goodly entities, in a way.
Anyway, something's bound to come up in terms of this. But as you are aware, I do need to get some sleep tonight (last night was pure torture!)
Violet
[much later edit: same as editorial remarks above]

Re: Looking for a sign
I would like to point out that you were the one who suggested, well what you suggested.Violet wrote:Why don't we compromise?
My love strapped down,
waiting to be stripped?
(again, you really have to try those ratchet straps, never a problem with those)...
I wrote a nice poem about my love being like a cup of tea.
Who was being nice? and who was being naughty?
Quite frankly Violet I'm concerned that you may be a bad influence on me. Next you'll be trying to get me to use drugs with you or something... maybe your some kind of dealer in drugs and rachet straps...

I miss Jack too. Where the heck is he?
Re: Looking for a sign
Yes, Cate, this is Violet on the way to becoming 'Violet' -- surely you give the writer some room to develop her character, no? Anyway, I suggest it's the more integrated Violet, the one who still had some sense of humor left before Lorca took over in that department... And as I recall, Lorca later explains such material as Violet's unconscious attraction to ratchet straps (due to the fact of being "strapped in" by Lorca, as it were)...
Well, I guess I've brought this whole mess upon myself... what to do... (who is jack, by the way?)...

...a lonesome, and very quarrelsome hero, who, it appears, is turning into gold...
