CONCERT REPORT: Helsingborg (July 3)

Post by noob »

Hi,
My first topic, with one question: Anyone else who's going to see Leonard Cohen in Helsingborg when he comes to Sweden on thurseday?
Althogh it's two days left i can hardly think of something else (not the best thing when you're trying to work  ).
Must work now, sorry for the rather short message to start this topic ;-)

Yes, I'll be there. Have been looking forward to this evening since the tickets were booked in March :)
Can't believe in exactly 48 hours we'll be listening to the greatest :)
Have a great show!

Oh, come back & tell us everything - everything - when you've been there. Unfortunately, I'm not able go this time, so I'm hungry for every bit & piece! ;-)
And why are you so quiet now, standing there in the doorway?

Oh, I'll tell you everything, and maybe some photos and a little video. That if I can get my camera into the show, but I don't think that will be a problem.

I'm going too. Anybody here seen a concert at Sofiero Slott before? How many people can the venue take?

It is a "castle-park", which is quite large but I'm unsure how many people that it can swallow. It's a beautiful surrounding though with a wonderful view over the sound to Denmark. Bring your pic-nic (or buy it in the café). The weather is warm and sunny with a clear blue sky. Everything is set for an evening to remember!

Surely I will be there!!!. So far the weather in Helsingborg is lovely.
According to the local paper 8 000 tickets are sold. I guess the limit for a consert is around 12 - 15 000 (the greatest problem is to park your car...) I have seen people sitting in the trees surrounding the huge lawn, where the consert takes place
I look forward to a wonderful evening.
See you? !

A really wonderful and emotional concert in a warm swedish summer evening. The band sounded brilliant and Leonard was passionated, enthusiastic and full of humour. I regard this as better than in 93. Many of the songs were really well performed. The band and Leonard had keen ears to the songs different nuances and I think they produced excellent versions of the songs.

Take this Waltz was dedicated to the swedish writer Goran Tunstrom who Leonad said (something like) we gotta know each other back at the isle of Hydra and we sat writing on the opposite sides of the table. He was a good friend and we keept contact over the years until he passed away a few years ago.

The songs was the same as in Oslo (I think) but, not in the same order. If it be your will was performed after the second encore.

One swedish large newspaper gave the concert five stars (out of five) saying "magic with leonard cohen".

The journalist ends by saying that after 20 years as a music critic, this was the most obvious 5 star grade ever.

The consert last night were wonderful! How charming and cute he is. In the beginning there were someone who yelled "I Love You!" and Mr Cohen replied with "I'm very fond of you to". The consert were three hours of pure happiness, I'm still smiling!

Got some pics for you guys:

And to make the whole consert better was the fact that I met his earlier that same afternoon! I've been up by Kärnan (a old tower in Helsingborg) and was going to the bus. And on the way I passed a hotel and there stood Leonard Cohen speaking to some men. First I thought that it were a unusual sight to see a man with suit and hat on a hot summer day and when I've passed him I realized that it were Cohen! I dug in my backpack for a piece of paper and a pen and approached him. I got a autograph (he even asked how I spelled my name so I didn't get an h in the end of my name ,which is Sara if you're intrested) .Then I asked if I could take a picture of him. A man in that apperantly knew Leonard said that he could get a picture of us both. And here it is:

http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 351bv9.jpg (does anyone know how tall he is? 'Couse he seemed very small when I met him and I'm not that tall, 170 cm, or 5 feet and 7 inches)
http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 408je9.jpg (the autograph! My mother said that from his handwriting she could see that Leonard is a creative person which is right but I wonder how she came to that conclusion?

You shold have seen me after I met him, I was trembling all over and speaking to one of my friends over the phone. Speaking or speaking, I was giggling. I must have scared some small children or old ladies.
I'm going to print out the pic and put it on my wall whem I find someone with a color printer. But I've found a frame for the autograph and the ticket from the consert. :D
