Gorgeous album cover! Dark and dramatic with its colours and contrasts. I like how the top of the flame looks asexual like a woman with a scarf around her neck, looking to the right; yet with a hat, a man as well.

I wish they'd given credit to whoever did it. They run the risk of Ania getting credit .

I've been listening to A Feast of Cohen more or less non-stop all this week. I know that opinion is divided among Cohenites as to whether Leonard's own versions of his songs are always to be preferred but, at least for those of us who (like me) love both his own recordings and a variety of others' interpretations, this new album is a must have. Taken as a whole I'd say it is quite a bit better as a tribute album than either I'm your Fan or Tower of Song and, at the same time, there are quite a few tracks on A Feast that are, to my ears, simply outstanding. The three covers from Songs of Love and Hate (Avalanche, Diamonds in the Mine, and Last Year's Man) are all first class. None is as dark as the LC original but all remain potent and haunting nonetheless. The rare appearance of The Captain (a much under-rated song) is hugely welcome, and executed superbly (the biting line "I risked my life, but not to hear some country western song" being doubly effective in this version). The violin playing on several tracks, including Who by Fire, is stunning, and the album finishes with a trio of compelling and powerful renditions of First We Take Manhattan, Is This What You Wanted?, and Boogie Street. I have found myself coming back to these three over and over this week. They are all wonderful, distinctive interpretations that finish an exceptional album with real panache.
