Maybe we should start a poll: Those who are not waiting for details, and those who are waiting for details.

Me, neither, Hydriot. Thank heaven. Three weeks was bad enough'I haven't been ill for 14 years'.

Re: Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008
Hi Hydriot,
You're right, I can't spell to save my life. Also I forgot about the differences in our use of the English language in the USA from yours in the UK. I should know better. When I was around 10 or 11 I discovered the wonderful world of British comedy on PBS TV here in the USA. For about 2 years that was all I watched. Between Benny Hill, Python, Are You Being Served, Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, and about a dozen other shows I could not help but pick up some of the language. I often found myself using words like "lift" instead of elevator or "loo" instead of bathroom which usually would get me some stares when they came out of my mouth in my thick Jersey accent. I also pick up some of the spelling differences too. I remember getting into trouble with my 6th grade English teacher over this. I started writing the word color as "colour" (no doubt from seeing it at the end of the credits of all the British shows " A 19XX BBC Colour Production"). When she told me I was spelling it wrong I argued with her and told her where I saw it spelled that way. She told me "we do not live in England so we do not spell it that way". I made some smart-ass remark like "this is English class right? So what's more English than England??" which got me a detention
. So I should have known better and your point is taken.

Re: Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008
Nice to see that Cohen's "enlightenment" or should I say transcendental moment in 'Morning Glory', which seems a little more appropriate for him, has brought upon such optimism in the man they said wrote "music to slit your wrists too" that he is planning a tour for 14 years at the age of 73.bigdee wrote:If I'm reading the artical at the Guardian correctly this should be the longest tour of Cohen's career. The artical says he is about to start his first tour "for 14 years" instead of first tour in 14 years. That would mean he'd be 87 when he finishes the tour. It never ceases to amaze me how often these "professionals" of the press never seem to check their stories before they put them to press
.
Myself, I'm waiting very patiently for his announcement, hoping to be able to see him twice, once in Toronto which I should safely assume he'll visit, plus if I heard correctly the Montreal Jazz Festival (July 4th - 19th) is negotiating with him to perform and since I should be in Montreal the first week of July I may just get blessed with seeing him twice.

Re: Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008
Montreal Jazz Festival is scheduled to June 26 to July 6
Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland is from July 4 to 19
(Leonard is supposed to tour in Europe in June/July - no dates/venues made public yet)

Jarkko: Make sure that he will come to Finnland

Re: Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008
Minna & Justus: kovasti ainakin yritetään. Eiköhän se lähiviikkoina selviä. Riippuu
kiertueen laajuudesta, onko Helsinki mukana. Ainakin Hartwall Areena olisi riittävän
iso.

It would be such a thrill to see another concert with leonard, after such a long time. It always feels one of the best ways to express one's appreciation for all that has been given

Dear Jarkko,
En ole koskaan käynyt Suomessa, mutta haluaisin kovasti käydä siellä, erityisesti kun kysessä on tällainen tapahtuma
.
(No, I don't speak Finnish, but I have a colleague who does.)
Best wishes,

Re: Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008
Good afternoon,
So, in Europe we have Glastonbury (Avalon, England) by the and of June, and Montreux (Switzerland) in early July, both announcing that LC will be there.
If the European leg of the tour is to happen in June/July, we may be lucky to miss all those football fans who are heading to the European Cup on the competition for a ticket...
I was never fond of camping, but I am pretty sure I will fancy sleeping under the Glastonbury stars if that's the only chance to see Leonard Cohen acting... and I'll even dress a druid costume if I have to

I know that this is the place to come for information on the LC tour but I just have to keep checking the net.
Found a site this morning with some more comments indicating that interest is growing.

I thought I had struck paydirt this morning when I found a google site that said Tour dates and it went to Anjani's site--but the tours were not for our man.
This is February in Canada--Pulleeze Mr. Cohen --I need a lift.
