Hi there,

We are fans (from France, sorry for our English !) of Leonard Cohen's music. In a couple of months we will get married and we would like to enter the church with the famous Leonard' song "Suzanne" but in instrumental version. Does this version exist ?

Thank you for your help,

Tom

I'm afraid of this kind of version we could find on a Karaoke CD. We are just looking for the original version but just without the leonard's voice. If anyone of you could help...

Thanks again

There is no "official" instrumental version but some recordings can be found on albums (taken from http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/covlist.html)

Cyril Ornadel Orchestra: "Swinging the 60s-Big Band Arr.." released in UK in 1996

Wallis Blue Ochestra: "Midnight Melodies" released in France in 1989

Geoffrey Oryema's intrumental version, on the promotional CD single "More Fans", released in France in 1991 as a supplement to the Les Inrockuptibles magazine. (African style, might not be good for your needs)

Unfortunately those Orchestra-CDs may be quite difficult to find nowadays.

Thanks fo these precious information ! But damn, it is really hard to find these references ! I'm afraid we have to find an alternative solution as we really want "the" instrumental version from Leonard Cohen or find another song. We will check with the publisher if it is possible to get the song without the voice.
Thanks again for your help.

I'm pretty sure Sony cannot help. I have both those orchestral songs and can send you a MP3 file next week if you want to check them.

He accompanies himself on guitar alone - is there a competent guitarsist that you know that could figure the part out and play live for you at your ceremony - it's not a hard accompaniment.

jarkko, TomParis,

I find myself in the same situation TomParis was some years ago, I'm getting married and I would like to put the instrumental version of Suzanne during the ceremony. Could any of you send me the mp3 files?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Kind regards,
maria
