Johnny Fuller's You Got Me Whistling. I'd be glad to hear people's views on this.

Re: Did Leonard hear this?
Hello Brian,
I just saw this post and went to You Tube to hear "You got Me Whistling." Aside from the similarity of the song's' title to Leonard's "You Got Me Singing," the constructions of both songs have similarities. Johnny Fuller's song was released in the US in 1958. I do not think it was a "hit," but it is certainly possible that Leonard may have heard it, he would have been 24 years old at the time. But after all these years, it is difficult to believe that Leonard would have remembered, and knowingly copied, Fuller's song. Leonard has never refrained from praising and giving credit to the music of others, so if Fuller's song played any part in the creation of "You Got Me Singing," I am rather certain he would have made attribution to Fuller.
Other than in the capacity of listening and appreciating, I am musically-challenged. That is, while I can understand the process of composing lyrics, the act of composing music will always be a mystery to me. That said, after some contemplation I personally find it difficult to wind up with a song that would sound much different than the two being discussed given the song titles (themes).
