Analysis of "Memories"

Post by jarkko » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:00 am

From Phil Kakulas:
Phil Kakulas from The Blackeyed Susans here. I’ve corresponded with you in the past regarding a cover of Leonard Cohen’s Memories my band performed and recorded. Since then we have also been fortunate enough to appear on the same bill as Leonard during the Australian leg of his 2009 world tour when (after getting his blessing) we performed Memories.

I just wanted to let you know that I have written an analysis of the song and that experience for an Australian publication called The Melbourne Review I thought you might enjoy.

I enjoyed that article a lot. Look forward to reading the section of Sylvie's book on the DOALM stage of Cohen's career with interest.

I was lucky enough to have seen the Blackeyed Susans perform live on a couple of their only European live gigs. Well worth seeing if you are in Australia and get a chance to catch one of their upcoming Christmas shows:

The poster is an allurement of itself:
