Hi Lizzy, someone had posted a video for Woke Up This Morning by Alabama3- better known as the Sopranos theme song- and attributed it to LC. I commented politely- "This is not a Leonard Cohen song, it is by Alabama3" and the uploader was very condescending like "no it is Leonard Cohen, look it up." It went on like that for a bit...arguing back and forth in comments. Ridiculous!

Hi Esther,
I can see where someone who doesn't KNOW Leonard Cohen would attribute that song to LC - it is very 'Cohenesque'. Maybe that's why I like it. Irritating though, to have someone claim it is an LC song over and over again when you know that this is not the case. Wonder why it was removed from youtube.

Yesterday, on XM's The Loft, they played DMTTEOL, my favorite - bliss. Having and listening to prerecorded LC is one thing, but when you hear his songs on radio, this takes it to a higher level. There is a sense of proprietary pride in knowing that you already are familiar with the works of LC and now it is reaching those out there who may have never heard his music.

Warmest regards,
Mary

Not sure if this moment would count as an 'enjoyable' one - At work I've been having problems with one of our stupid computer systems - it's very idiosyncratic and prone to breaking down. It's been messing me around all of today. I decided to complain to the IT department in a snotty email, explaining that I was very busy and their system was holding me up and giving me error messages. To illustrate my point, I took a screenshot of the problem and attached it to my email. Or at least I thought I did. Turns out, I actually attached a photo of Leonard Cohen to the email, which they pointed out to me with a very understated 'I don't think you meant to send that file did you?' I think I may actually want to die

Mary, you're right - a medical note from the good doctor would surely save my blushes!

Walking away from a graveside after a very sad funeral of a dear relative, we came upon this inscription on a head stone. A reminder. The light did come in at that moment.

That is so beautiful, Tineke. I'm glad that, in this unexpected way, Leonard's words reached out and brought some light to your day.

Tineke, wow!! Thank you for sharing that beautiful photo. Isn't it amazing how Leonard's exquisite words find their way into our hearts, & lift our spiritis up, at times of deepest pain & sorrow!! And what a perfect verse to put on a tombstone!! I hope that the light which came in at that moment, will stay with you, & continue to soothe your pain!

Lisa & Rachel, Thank you so much for your very kind reactions. Yes the light did stay with me. I am sure that those words there in that serene place will have a soothing effect on many that visit their love ones who are layed to rest there. Take care.

Tineke,

Grief is the price we pay for love. And that was a very serendipitous moment for you to find those words at that time! I wonder if it could have been a forum member - obviously Leonard's words meant everything to (her) him.

My random moment is something entirely different:

Yesterday on the news here, the Australian Senate daily working procedures were show on TV and I was startled to see and hear each of the Senators in turn cry out loudly, "Ring The Bells" repeatedly! :o Apparently, a quorum is required in the chamber to conduct parliamentary business. By law that's a minimum of 30 out of the 150 members to be present in the chamber to pass laws etc and this wasn't happening. The law then allows each senator to say, but there is not a quorum present. "Ring the bells". Quorum not being present. "Ring the bells". This kept on happening! I have never heard so many attempts to start this great line from "Anthem". ;-)
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

Bev,

That's hilarious! If I were an Australian senator, I'd probably have started singing (or at least reciting) the whole thing!

- So what kind of music do you listen to, generally?
- Generally, I listen to Leonard Cohen.

gotta love being general...
"Oh chosen love, Oh frozen love
Oh tangle of matter and ghost
Oh darling of angels, demons and saints
And the whole broken-hearted host
Gentle this soul..."
