In spite of this, get ready for a irresistable team of Finnish Walkers!
Which nationality are always there at the end of the walk ? The finish ! Boom ! Boom!
A note to any newcomers that is the level of humour you can expect on the walks .

diane and fellow walkers...

....i wouldn’t worry too much about the flight…looking at the map I see that connemarra is about equidistant between shannon and knock airports …
....as you most probably know knock airport is a very special place which was built by father james horan along with a little help from a few gangs of very muscular priests for when the pope came to visit the shrine in knock a few years back…

....so when the time comes best if you book the ryanair knock flight as all the cabin staff are recruited from the local nun population and security is always a doddle with nuns also manning the security gates……as you can see from the photo below lots of celebrities and important church dignitaries prefer to use knock airport such as the likes of monsignor henning franz on his recent visit…I only know all this because christy moore told me....ta ken

I'm so glad we have that sorted, Ken, but I hear Jarkko has been threatened with excommunication, on account of the fact that is not a yellow stripe down the front of his holiness' cape.

apologies to our philip... of course i wouldn't have mistaken you or your sexy yorkshire accent for anything other than being a product of the wonderful people's republic of south yorkshire ...the initial list was only a suggestion of folk who i thought would have neither irish blood or irish ancestry....i see maarten realising he was already disqualified panicked by editing wenche's name onto the list...tut tut tut......definitely a case of a forum moderator misusing his authority and position....of course if the walk is over subscribed there well may be other suggestions to select the lucky participants..no facial hair...no football supporters...no leonard cohen fans....nobody under the age of 65 are just a few alternative suggestions i can think of...but of course the final decision willcome from the organisers....

..and apologies to to diane ....it would seem i was misinformed about the lax security at knock airport.......ta ken

Hi there, Burning:-) In both Barmouth and Haiger we had a small number who walked less but still did the other planned stuff. It will all be down to Joe how he works it in Ireland. Things are more complicated than it may seem, when you are responsible for steering a group of people around for a long weekend. I really hope you, and everyone who wants to be there, make it, but as H said, we can't expect to even be able to sign up for a year, yet. If it comes to it, we could always eliminate people who fail a bootless climb of Croagh Patrick.

I have to say the two walking holidays were the best.

In Barmouth organised by Diane we had weather which was just so out of the ordinary, it was sunny. We had the best bunch of people and we were lucky enough to stumble on that bar where the barman and his wife were having a domestic, for the whole of the week! Turns out he was an Elvis impersonator and on our last night we were treated to his attempts to get his partner back with Elvis songs. You could not have had a better week.

In Haiger organised by Henning we had the weather again it was beautiful and sunny. I got to see parts of Germany I never knew existed beautiful countryside. I thought my legs were gonna drop off 11 miles the first day and Henning took pity on us for the second day and only made us walk 9. The best bunch of people.

I would not have missed either of them for the world.

I think all people that have not been on a walk yet should qualify for the walk if they read this complete thread from the start, it is only 127 pages so far. We will ask a few random questions then to see and if they answer correctly, they qualify :) :) . Just a suggestion :) , You have till July 2013 to complete this task

Brilliant idea Tinderella ! Nearly as good as the Haiger" Oscar "idea you had last time . We need a sub committee to think of the questions . People with a specialist subject . For example Jean and I could come up with a couple of questions about food .Our specialist subjects being rhubarb ,eggs and crab

Oops. looks like everyone ran for the hills when i made that suggestion Phil :)

By the way Phil, I was helping Mambos girls to clean her house on sunday and we came across a stick for hill walking which they gave me and then we found a perfect new pair of crutches... so I said I better take those too, at my age, I like to cover all eventualities :)

Mambo dear Mambo we all miss you so
And if you are listening we would all like to know
Will you help your dear sister in her hour of need
And lend her the crutches for added speed
They will give her the strength to walk much farther
