Jean Fournell in another thread said the arabic lyrics are "Oh! Ya salam"

I found this on Yahoo :

https://answers.yahoo.com/question/inde ... 217AASsqy6

I also found this on an arabic site :

http://wahiduddin.net/words/99_pages/salam_5.htm

Coincidentally, and nicely, I also found that Ya Salam is the title of a beautiful arabic song in which love is expressed in aw for a lover called soul. A bit in direct line of the poet Rumi and you-know-who. 8)

As the was not translated from Arabic into English I did not bring it here.

And finally, here is the music album :

An old (bilingual) Moroccan friend had a listen and told me that there is the word 'ala in the Arabic in "Nevermind", too. It took me some careful listening under assistance; and yes, she's right:

In the first Arabic sequence, there are two occurrences of "salam 'ala salam" (peace upon peace) amidst the several "ya salam" (oh peace) rather at the beginning and rather at the end.
In the second Arabic sequence, there is one "salam 'ala salam" among the "ya salam" rather at the beginning , and in the last there are only "ya salam".

You're welcome, Peter.

And thanks to Tchocolatl for sharing those links especially the second one.
I'm pretty sure that it will help to find one or the other of the hidden little jewels that Leonard Cohen is a master of...
