After first hearing I think it's crap, hehe.
Gonna give the album a few hundred more hearings, might as well be great.

But my first impression : crap.
On a LC-scale of course, that means it is great compared to everything else, but no good against the best of LC.
Not sure why, I just don't like the sound of it.

I love very bit and every second of this album. To me it feels fresh and new and exciting.

It took me a while to fully get into the last album but this one here blew me away at a first listen. It resonates with me both on a lyrical and a musical level.

What a joy to add this to the already rich body of Leonard's art work.

As a friend said about the new album:
"Its slow, its dark, its simple and bare...it's Cohen"
I love the new album! It's brilliant!

I like pared down productions, electronic sounds and music, violins, slow and moving songs...
And genius lyrics.
I find Popular Problems is excellent.
At 80, Mr Cohen is still at his best.

Yippie, I got my CD today from amazon. It was good to hear it in the last days in the internet (thank you Jarkko for the link), but really important things I must still hold material in my hands to have a good feeling about it. I love the new songs.

Ok, this is why I love the live streaming, we have to wait for another week for the CD release, so much for the global market.

Hi All
I resisted the temptation to listen to Popular Problems before I received the actual CD but gave up when it seems to have gone everywhere but Liverpool.
I was disappointed when I heard that it was a short CD but glad when I listened to it (admittedly for the first time) that it was!
I don't like the production.

There are a few tracks I really enjoy but am so disappointed with the version of Born in Chains, a song I've really enjoyed live!

Maybe I'll enjoy it the more I listen, and maybe it'll stand alongside Old Ideas as something different to what has been, but something to be admired from a person who has been and is so important to me as he approaches his 80th birthday,

Nevermind,.....the reviews from people who know and have more influence than me have been good, and the words in the songs are still special.
Leonard's standing has been enhanced as it deserves to be.

Judging from people's comments on Facebook and elsewhere, I'm also glad that Presale tickets for his next concert (if it happens) will be easier to obtain
Take care
Dave
