It's showing on British TV, Channel Five Friday 1235am. It's the London Times film of the week. It says amongst other things 'and the frozen terrain outside is made all the more desolate by the Leoanard Cohen songs that lour(sic) over the film's exterior shots.' (I've put sic because I've never heard of the word lour and I can only think that it's a mistake not that I claim to have heard of every single word in the world. Is the soundtrack still available? I know we have all the songs but is it still around in a cd format that says the film title on the case? :D

Dear glyn,

Lour is certainly the appropriate word for Mcabe and Mrs. Miller. It means to appear dark or threatening. Or to scowl or frown. You will probably recall the same word from your studies of Shakespeare. Remember Richard III?

Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York,
And all the clouds that loured upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.

It's a terrific word. Glad you pointed it out.

Hi Georges,
Just a couple things to suggest.....Mrs. Miller.....I think Mrs. McCabe stayed home  ~ and set up your DVD  player [unless yours is dual function, which it sounds like it may be, with both PAL and the other mode available.

Teasingly,
