from "ooh bah ooh" to "do dum, dum dum..."

Post by B4real »

Could “ooh bah ooh” be the seed that 28 years later inspired “do dum, dum dum…” by the way of the “don’t stop” plea? In both song endings of Memories 1980 Tel Aviv and Tower Of Song 2008 London, Leonard suggests (tongue-in-cheek) these syllables, respectively, are the way to provide solutions to problems and answers to mysteries.

Memories - listen from approx. 1:32:50mins

Tower Of Song - listen from approx. 5:15mins

I can’t help but smile every time I watch the latter video when Leonard makes himself laugh at his own words and the audience response to them.

EDIT: As we know, Leonard frequently used the" don't stop" plea in Tower Of Song at concerts from 2008 to 2013.

Hi Bev,
I am inclined to agree with you and I think you are in no way a defective detective.
In the Tel Aviv version at 1:30:00 does he refer to himself as "A neurotic Jew" or "An erotic Jew"?
I think the former, but I prefer the latter, but then I am a former latter myself.

Alan

Thanks, you guys! Glad you all enjoyed it too!
I realised this most interesting combination about a week ago and thought it was worth posting here.
I'm still slowly going through my recordings and you just never know what you already have until you listen :)

...and yes, Alan, he does say "neurotic" but you could say the other word is also applicable ;-)
I laughed at your words!

EDIT: Seems my post here has just reminded Allan S of the same discovery. Ha! Great minds think alike ;-)
