how are we still waiting? How many times has the UK been blessed by leonard in the last 10 years? Have we not got a fantastic THREE HOUR gig lined up?

the tone of this thread is no good
Errmm, L.C never toured again after 1993 until 2008, when the last tour started.

Or act your age, not your shoe size

touché

All I mean is, we will all be sat down, we can take a blanket in with us. What more can us old fogies ask for  It's hardly woodstock is it!

And are we really so worried about ONE evening of POSSIBLE traffic jams and POSSIBLE busy trains. Really? Is that really enough for us to act so wounded? Can we really believe this is some kind of snub??

Ok it might rain, but the likelihood is it wont. I seem to be the only person excited to see LC under the stars. Why do people want another gig in the O2 or the like?

The lack of excitement and joy surrounding this gig is amazing. Yes it's expensive, but you cant spend your coins in the afterlife

my point was LC has played in the UK many times in the last 10 years, yet that fellow suggests our fair Isle has somehow been snubbed. Very strange.

I see your point but remember L.C has not been to the UK in the last 10 years but actually only since he started touring again in 2008 after a 15 years well publicised absence.

Songwriter.......you are not the only one excited to see LC under the stars! I will have my blanket, my waterproofs, and a picnic. A flask of coffee in the car so I can sit and wait until all the traffic has cleared (rather than sitting in a 2 hour muddy queue as at Wetbridge). Saw Dylan under the stars in New York a few years ago and it was magical to see the moon shining bright across the bay behind the stage.

Heck...if I can put up with the toilets so aptly named Desolation Row at the IOW........I can put up with anything! :D

Well I feel alot better now---Glad I´m not the only one!!
I would dearly love to see LC under the stars,as I did his first concert in Lisbon--truly magic.
I was 18 at the IOW concert---god,that makes me sound SO old---but theres still life in the old dog yet
I would have attended the Hop Farm one--but its too close to my "trip of a lifetime" to India--and knowing my luck I would probably come down with the flu or something worse--and it would spoil my trip.
So India beckons me---LC will beckon me in 2013!!! Reading all your comments,I´m now pretty sure of that :D

stargazer........I am so pleased to have read your reply. And with a username like yours I am not surprised to see you excited about this gig

I had already planned my waterproofs, blanket and picnic but the coffee in the car I had not considered - thank you for the tip!

my kids go to glastonbury year in year out, and from what I can understand these outdoor concerts are luxurious compared to the standards we used to suffer "back in the day". They even have flushable toilets these days! Desolation Row is truly just a dim and distant memory now, and definitely best forgotten *shudder*!

I saw a gig at the open air threatre in regents park last year. It was a truly magical, special occasion. Yes I was blessed with a clear night sky, and a gorgeous full moon like at your dylan gig but still, even if the heavens open at Hop Farm, I am sure we will be too enthralled by the music to notice a few rain drops!

and catswhiskers, there is not many things that would make me miss a LC concert....but a trip of a lifetime to India is certainly one of them! Have a wonderful time, and see you down the front in 2013!

There is a difference between frustration and being a total whinge bag. A lot of us are frustrated with a number of things that happen and by choice I never buy tickets through ticketmaster when other agents also have tickets. It is clear that at times the forum has not been blessed with as much information as it would ideally want and sometimes not on a very timely basis either but there is no question that Jarkko and his moderators work their socks off to ensure we are as up to date as they can help us be. I do feel that in an ideal world Leonard and his management would try even harder to ensure that Jarkko and his team and the forum members were treated even better than we are but that is a matter for them but at the same time I do believe that Leonard and his personal managers have a high regard for the true and long standing fans. The cost of tickets of course is an issue but ticket prices have escalated rapidly for all "superstar" concerts over recent years and we have the right to chose not to buy them. As for his tour schedule again that is a matter for him and we can be frustrated but we cannot demand that he plays near to where we live. There are millions around the world travelling much further than most of us or who cannot travel and so miss out. He will come back to the UK in the near future I have no doubt. I feel blessed that I will soon be seeing a LC concert again (HOP and Dublin) having seen him 4 times on the last 3 year tour (Lille, Liverpool, Manchester Area and Manchester Palace) and just twice before that in Manchester and London at long intervals. Seeing Leonard in concert is not just a concert it is an event bordering on spiritual. The man simply transcends almost anything and anybody else perhaps even with very few equals and only seeing Cat Stevens twice in the past few years has come even close to seeing Leonard. What Leonard is however is the High Priest of all artists currently living. His is the father and Grandfather of them all. He commands and inspires respect from even the greatest artists still out there. He is the Godfather of music. Lets now all get behind the tour and Leonard and the Forum and Jarkko and his team and get planning for the concerts. I hope that forum members who already have lots of friends within the forum will encourage other members to join them at meet ups as I for one really want to make the concerts last a lot longer than 3 hours and want to share a drink with real fans like me before and after the shows. Remember that if Leonard is the High Priest of the Cohens then forum members are the true Cohenites and we must yield to his calling us to his concerts in a proper and spirited manner.

:D :D :D The coffee came in handy at Wetbridge. I got there really early so everybody parked behind me in the field. After the concert I just sat in my car and waited whilst the rest of the crowds sat in ever increasing snakes of stationary traffic in a sodden field. It took over an hour to clear but, when most had gone, started up the car and drove out...simple, and a million times less frustrating! Getting there so early also meant that I, and a few dozen others, had the pleasure of seeing LC and the band do several songs for a sound-check!
And my ticket for the Hop farm has just arrived!!!

stargazer -
thanks for tips re parking .. (to wait for an hour for crowd to leave, then exit in peace). sounds great advice.
.... is this thread a branch of the Hop Farm thread (top of menu)?..........
life IS short and we can't take earthly stuff into next incarnation, so I've made the choice to spend on Hop Farm. Hope it will overtake W.W. with legendary tales.
I hope that he plays Old Ideas in its entirety. What time does the sun set in September? (starlight would be beautiful). [Hop Farm is becoming Hope Farm!!]

Sunset is at 7.30 pm on the 8th September.......nice timing!

There is a meet-up thread on the main board, so hopefully, some of us will be able to get together before the concert.

Probably more 'barmy' than ' balmy' :)
