Hi Friends,
some of the forum members will attend to Sharon's show(s) in Ghent at the Minard on the 6th and/or 7th of September. (Even though it was just a few steps from the venue, sadly the Gruut has changed its location some time ago so we can't meet there.) There is a café called Marimain the next door to the Minard on the right. How about meeting there at 5 PM?
We can gather up after the show and decide on a post-concert meet-up as well
I'm looking forward to meeting you again.
P.S: I created a FB Event:

Sharon Robinson pre-concert meet-up in Ghent
Re: Sharon Robinson pre-concert meet-up in Ghent
Hi Eva
Thanks for taking care of this, we all appreciate it when someone organizes something like a meet-up for us!
I'd be happy to attend, although I'm not sure I will make it there around 5PM, more likely to be 6PM or even a bit later...
See you soon!
Maarten

The tour is over now (sadly) so I posted some videos I took in Ghent to YouTube:

Some thoughts:
Sharon's concerts are like intimate celebrations of music. Her voice is warm dark honey and the minimal setting just manage to enhance its beauty. She was doing well enough alone on the stage, making magic on the music front but she was a bit too shy and sometimes even unconfortable when it came to small talk between songs. The reception was warm but I think the audience would eat from her palm if there would be a bit more free talk and interaction. She all but fled the stage after the encore Not an easy task for a modest person like her to bear it but there was much more love there to flow toward her.
Anyway, it was a delight and I hope there will be more albums and more tours in the (near) future.
The highlights for me:
- Safe from the Caffein album
- Boogie Street, Alexandra Leaving - like chrystallized music
- A real surprise: The Letter
- One of my all time favourites: A Thousand Kisses Deep
- the Tom Waits cover
