Who's going to the Portland show?!?
I am going to the Portland concert. I made an impulse mad decision this morning based on whether I could get a front row seat on the forum pre-sale. I did. Row 1, seat 17 Thank you, Jarkko.

I have no idea exactly where my seat is situated or whether the cameramen will block my view like they did in Gothenburg. But, I am goimg.

Can anybody recommend a hotel close to the venue?

I'll do some research on near by hotels in the next few weeks and make a list. The venue is on the light rail line which makes makes it easy to get to. Cari

Yes, I got a first row seat as well. Seat 26 I believe. That would be so lame to have a camera blocking your view when you throw down that kinda dough. Scary thought. I've stayed at Hotel Lucia before. Not sure how far it is from the venue but its right downtown. Plus they have a deal on Wednesday nights (night of the show).

"Visit us on a Wednesday or Thursday night and receive FREE WIFI, $10 valet parking (retail: $30) and 10% off our best available rate."

Just checked the rate and it was $142 a night. This is a pretty nice place too in my opinion. Especially when you consider a Days Inn or whatever is going to be around $110.

Can't wait for this!!

When making Portland hotel reservations, people should know that the Rose Garden area is also called the Rose Quarter, the Convention Center and the Lloyd Center/District. The hotels around there are all basic convention center hotels, i.e. Embassy Suites, Doubletree, Marriott, etc. The trendier and fancier hotels are across the river in downtown Portland. But there is a lightrail (aka MAX) stop outside the venue that connects to downtown quickly and it's in the free zone, so you don't need a ticket. You can find more here: www.trimet.org

I also think the Lucia is very nice and reasonable.

I'm a newbie but I am going to the Portland Show. This will be my first Leonard Cohen show and I am beyond excited. After I bought my ticket, I couldn't sit down for the rest of the day. I kept pacing and jiggling about.

Cheers,
Liz

My name is Liz and I have been following this community for a while now under the radar, but I just registered. I finally took the plunge and bought myself a single ticket to see Leonard in Portland, floor seat, row 1 seat 3. I have never really traveled for a show before so I am quite excited for the adventure! Hope to meet all of you at the show.
Hey, Liz. You may be a newbie (and welcome to the Forum), but you sure act like a seasoned veteran.
We ALL do crazy impulse concert ticket buying. I am also going to Portland (personal folly for me), sitting very close to you, Row 1, seat 17. I will be easy to recognize, "woman of a certain age" with two canes. And I believe, there are a few other Forum folk in first row, thanks to our wonderful Jarkko's pre-sale.

btw. I love your Cambridge. Spent many visits there, mother of a Crimson Hasty Pudding prez. I will have to debrief you, eg., Is Elsie's still there? Best egg salad sandwich ever. And Au Bon Pain? Yummy croissants.

See you in Portland !

Has anybody found a map of the auditorium showing seat numbers ?

I have a map with sections, but I really need to know where the seats are relative to the cenre of the stage

If I look at the ticket sales website, I am offered--- price level =P1 FLOOR, level=FLOOR, section=FLOOR, row=2, seat=11

My question is where is seat 11 relative to the centre of the stage ?

I also could not find any plan with seat numbers on the internet. So, I phoned the box office to find out the location of my seat. The LC concert is not on their system yet. Instead, the box office used the seating plan for "Celtic Thunder".

First row seats number from 1-46.
Facing the stage, seat #1 is on the far right.

Thanks Arlene, that's just what I needed to know. I dislike side-on view of the stage, so if I was to consider going I'd be looking for somewhere between 18 and 28.

Many thanks

Oh wow, I have first row seat #26... 3rd seat from the exact middle. And closer to where Leonard sets up as opposed to Sharon and the Webb sisters. 280 bucks well spent. :-D

That's awesome Mutti... see you there! Have you ever sat in the front row at a Cohen concert before? I haven't sat in the front row of anything so this should be a treat. :-)
