Death of A Ladies Man Live

Post by Onelastwildwaltz »

I was wondering if anyone knows if Leonard ever sang Death of A Ladies Man live, and even better if there was a recording or bootleg of it out there somewhere.

Thanks

Hi Onelastwildwaltz, welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to say but as far as I know that's a "No" in all instances.

The title song itself no, but part of the album yes.

He regularly performed Memories live in 1979-80 shows and also in 1985 shows.

Couple of times in 1979 he performed Iodine - both being way more superb than on the album.

Iodine in Paris 1979: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h0Vfugircw

Memories are available on Field Commander Cohen Tour of 1979 CD (2001 release). Here is quite different, recitative version from German TV show in 1979: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0fV_-hcdCI and here quite different 1979 version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ASIZa45d4

Here are Memories, live in Poland in 1985: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlrhcBlD2AY (very sad version) and of course this famous gem from the hip Kalvoya Festival https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsF_7G43FsY

Some songs were recorded earlier, in 1975, for abandoned album Songs for Rebecca, and they are available in only known live audience recording from US tour in 1975 (in the town of Bryn Mawr).
