Re: Beth Hart on Leonard Cohen
You are welcome Hartmut. I found it curious that she was such a huge fan of LC given that I don't see much overlap in their musical styles but perhaps that is just artificial barriers consumers of music like myself erect. Plus she is a LA native so that is another connection...
I think it would be interesting for her to do an album of LC covers...the songs would be re-imagined as blues/soul music !
Indeed, her frequent collaborator Joe Bonamassa did one of the more unique versions of Bird on a Wire IMHO ...

My standout Bird on a Wire covers are those by Joe Bonamassa, Aaron Neville (especially the live version), Willie Nelson, Katey Sagal and Jennifer Warnes in no particular order. Perhaps there is one or two more out there that I cannot recall at the moment...

Re: Beth Hart on Leonard Cohen
What I found even more curious was the way the interviewer interrupted her enthusiastic reply by suggesting she should talk about a living artist.
Johnny Cash did a great cover version of "Bird". ("One of my favorites, that I've always wanted to record.")

Re: Beth Hart on Leonard Cohen
Indeed it is ! I went back and pulled out the original American Recordings from my CD collection from the 90s (who buys CDs anymore?) and had forgotten how awesome the studio recording of Bird on a Wire is.Johnny Cash did a great cover version of "Bird".
I think Beth Hart's previous album Better Than Home has more of an LC influence than the latest one Fire on the Floor which is more soul/blues/jazz ...
St. Teresa is a song that could have been influenced by LC - there are a couple of points of reference...
