Assuming this is true (I think it is not).
It is. Fact.
As for the rest of your questions. Don't know, but would't think so.

I will wait and see what others have to say.
You expect intelligence from a football fan?

Update to above.
It's now gone. No further comment from me on the subject.

So, have you anything to say? Hopefully more intelligent than that rascal Rodin.
You seem to hang on to words then fade away. Without actually saying anything. Just saying...

Robert,
I don´t know why you are saying that I “hang on to words and then fade away” or what you actually mean with that. Did I not respond fast enough to your liking?
I do not I agree with you statement “without actually saying anything”. I think I made pretty clear in my post from august 24 how I feel about forum censorship, how the moderators run this forum and the freedom of speech.
So what is about my posts in this topic that is not clear to you? I will gladly explain.

I was referring to the fact that you had made an erroneous statement in your original post which I had corrected you on.
However, as the offending post in the other thread has been removed, my point is irrelevant.
Apologies you have been troubled.
I would delete the post, but I can't as you have responded to it.

Once again I am censored whilst others are free to post trite shite.
It's like Martin Luther King or Ghandi being denied fre e speech.

Franks wrote:I would like to get back to Athnuachan´s original question “Are some members' posts being deleted without comment?”.
I don´t think so. I am pretty sure the person whose post gets removed receives a personal message from the moderator that removed the post. Perhaps the moderators does not always post a message in the forum to explain his/her actions but as far as I am concerned they don´t have to do that.
Thank you Franks for returning this thread to its original intention. Of course the moderators can do as they choose, and I hope the "offending" person is informed, but I think if posts are being deleted a brief explanation for the rest of us is not too much to expect - e.g. " this post was deleted because it contained... " (This would also draw attention to what limits are being imposed by moderators. Any one of us, given the blue pencil and based on our own preferences and prejudices, would relish deleting lots of other posts here!)
Otherwise threads are left mangled and meaningless, responses to a now vanished post (which some of us never saw in the first place) being left in a vacuum. The other option is to delete everything after the offending post! That's what happens with censorship, as we saw in Ireland in the past - it's just too easy and it spreads and spreads...

I see that events have moved on, the easy option has been taken, and one member has been banned.
(There are at least two other members I would prefer to see banned!)
Might I suggest that we the members should be consulted before that is done?
(Not just those who nag the moderators/know the moderators/have personally met the moderators etc... )
I suppose that would be too democratic...

Understand where you are coming from, but this is both a tall order and unrealistic. There are over 27000 registered members (no doubt not all active). How long would that process take?

Thanks, Zimmy. I know from some of your other posts that you value democracy.
Why unrealistic? Who cares how long it would take?
Surveys have been successfully conducted on the forum before.
Ask the question, set a time limit. Probably only a fraction of that number is active and will respond. ( Some have long since departed, some are fictional, some have several identities on the forum, etc. etc. )
At least it would be more representative than "those who pester the moderators! "

Ofcourse you can express your opinion if you do not agree with moderator decisions but I think some basic things about a forum are overlooked.
You can not demand that the forum is run a way that you think is democratic or demand the moderators hold a survey on subjects you feel there be consencus about.
Keep in mind that an internet forum is a website that is owned by someone and like any website the person that runs the site can do so any which way it pleases him/her.
It is not a payed service were you can complaint and make demands if you are not happy with the service you payed for.
I am not saying you should but if you don't like how the forum is run you can always decide not to visit anymore or start your own forum.

Of course you're right, Zimmy - it's a fait accompli. Censorship rules ok and democracy is
not coming to the LCF.
(A happy new arrival in the family this week reminded me of how insignificant all our ramblings here are anyway ... )
Just two final points:
Of course we the members do not own this, but it is called a
forum so I think it is reasonable to expect open discussion of differing opinions rather than a chorus of " yes people."
Secondly, it is a
Leonard Cohen forum - you know, the author of "Beautiful Losers" and "Death of a lady's man" ? (I mean the vitriolic prose, not the album.)
Irony of ironies - if LC wrote like that here on the forum now
he would definitely be banned!

Lots of people use off-colour language.
It doesn't make them poets or songwriters.
It's akin to all apples are fruits, but all fruits aren't apples.
To where the world is witness, in conversation with friends or strangers, Leonard never speaks as such.
That's the extent of my entry into/exit out of the continuation of this thread.
