Did you you know I met him at the stage door of Holy Heart theatre last May, but it was before the concert and I thought he was a roadie. He was as pleasant and gracious as LC himself.

Wow, me too (next to Leonard, of course ) but thought I was alone in this. He is gorgeous! In fact I didn't realize until I downloaded my photos from the Beacon that I had almost as many pix of Dino as of Leonard. And, he's talented too!

Tee-hee... I knew I wasn't alone. I got confirmation from my next-seat neighbour, Ute, at the Beacon... and behind the scenes here, from someone who can speak for herself. Even if I hadn't, there are just certain 'givens' in life. That would be one of them . I didn't express it with the word "crush," but somewhere in the Beacon thread, I gave him his props for creating visual art as he plays. Incredible body language. It's great to know, too, Anne, that he either already had or has adopted the trademark graciousness of Leonard. A roadie, eh?

I didn't take any photos. Dino had come out by the door for a smoke. He had on a black tour T-shirt, and it was early in the day so I assumed he was a roadie.
I gave him my welcome gift for Leonard Cohen, and thought to myself "What a truly nice man." I wished I had a gift for him, too. A couple of days later, when I finally got to the concert, I was in the front row on the right, with Dino right in front of me. After about a song or two, I realized where I'd seen that smile before.

I wouldn't use the word "crush" either. I would rather say I admire him.

Yeah, actually, I should've addressed that photos request to LadyDi. She was who I was thinking of when I asked. When I wasn't looking at Leonard, I pretty much focused on Sharon and Dino. Leonard got the lion's share, but those two were next. It looks like Mnkyface agrees with us on the admiration. She used "crush" in her thread title, but then "admiring" in her comments. It's almost comes down to semantics, though, doesn't it ? That's lovely that you were able to deliver a gift to Leonard through him. I can see where the tour t-shirt would give the roadie impression.

It is so easy to mistake Dino for a roadie (I did it myself after a Hamilton concert). He justs seems to be able to make himself one of us. Then, he has, I think, a background technician (handles his instruments) who could pass for his brother. Put them together off the stage and the way they are dressed and don't do anything to draw attention to themselves, makes it so easy to pass them off as 'one of the crowd'.

Dino is such a joy to watch during the performance, not just because of his virtuosity, but because he brings so much fun to the whole endeavor. Lizzy has said 'incredible body language'. That can be a show in itself. I know my husband and I are constantly poking each other during concerts, so many times, to direct attention to Dino. I love the fact that during concerts, he brings out that famous smile on LC's face.

Ladies, may I say how much I have enjoyed this thread? I no longer feel guilty for having been distracted from Leonard by the sublime Webb Sisters!!

Haha... Hydriot. Nor should you. Leonard knows what he's doing.

I was about to inquire of MWaldman and Foxwood on that very thing, but you've obviated the need.

Something in our DNA draws us one way or the other. And, I've never even liked those 'motorcycle key chains' ~ yet, it had its own role to play in Dino's driven movements. What I loved about his body's participation is that it appears it has no choice . Ha. Even his name... Dino Soldo. Very strong. A tight name with soft sounds. Very cool. As a disclaimer, I have to add that I don't normally strongly react to band members's attractiveness. About Leonard's smile, it seems that he gets as big a kick out of Dino's absorption in the music as we do .

While we're at it, though... I didn't notice the gorgeousness of the drummers's face until I saw a photo here and Javier Mas has that ethnic look I love.

Meanwhile, Sharon's body participation is muscle-precise and perfect. Every large and small muscle group in her body is involved and in sync with the rhythms. Taut and smooth... exact. Without fanfare or exaggeration, she replicates the largeness and subtleties of the rhythms in a very contained, well-defined form. It adds to the strength of her presence onstage. Sharon brings SO much to the table .

I've always loved the visuals of any performance. To have all your senses engaged is pure pleasure. Touch wasn't possible, but that's okay. Their performances transcended the need.
