Thank you, Maarten! Born in chains is outstanding! It is definitely my favourite of the 4 new songs Leonard has performed during his tour! BIC really has to remain in the setlist for the whole European and AUS/NZ tour!!!

2008:Lyon July 9th, Lörrach July 25th, Zurich October 25th;
2009: Nimes August 20th;
2010: Basel September 8th;

but i will always remember the soundcheck in venice, when he played the darkness
you could feel the magic of a newborn song, presented for the first time to the public...
thank you sharon, thank you leonard, thank you maarten! born in chain is one more great song.

I am adding my thanks too :D
It is so wonderful to hear a new song and I do hope it stays in for the Australian Tour!! It certainly has ended up differently than when it was first conceived. ;-)

I really would not risk it as security usually frown upon the use of what they see as semi-pro cameras from the audience (bear in mind that the professional photographers have just one song to get their shots). There were no security checks at the door in Salzburg and people did seem to be using basic DSLR cameras or the cameras that are one step short of a full DSLR with a fixed lens during the show - but then security stopped everyone in the front row from taking pictures in the second half so you never know how they are going to react though there seems to be a fairly light touch at most LC shows these days. However, it is still safest tin my view to take a clever compact.

Thanks, Maarten, for your valiant efforts capturing the premiere of this new song and battling to upload it for all of us to share. This being your second spectacular scoop after The Darkness at the Venice sound check, I am hoping you will be present at the next premiere of an LC new song to so ably capture it for a "hat trick" .

hi maarten,
thank you for uploading the song so quickly. It was wonderful to listen to it again. Yesterday I was so excited, when I realized I was listening to a song, that hadn't be performed in public before. And such a beautiful one! It's hard to wait for the new cd to be published ... let's hope the miracle will happen next spring ...

regards

Maybe there will be howls of protest but I would much prefer to hear Nancy or Undertow than Born in Chains. Many of the old songs are much better. Just my personal opinion. And maybe live it sounds better than on YouTube.

Just want to add my thank you to Maarten for filming & uploading that great new song, & to DrH for giving us the link - it's a GREAT JOY to hear this beautiful new song!! Can't wait to hear it with more clarity - live & on the studio album - (through my computer & earphones, I couldn't make out all the words, but I love what I did hear, as well as the melody & musical arrangement!) - it's delicious to at least get a taste of it - very, very exciting!!!

What about the rest of the setlist from last night - won't someone give us a clue - please??

Small notes:

Before Tower Of Song, mr Cohen put on his dark glasses and said he needed them because they were magnifying glasses because he needed to see his keyboard, but then took them of before the song started.

After his keyboard solo during Tower Of Song, mr Cohen said: "I knew here in Salzburg you'd appreciate a good piece of music", refering to Salzburg as the city of Mozart of course. Really funny line.

After Sisters Of Mercy, Cohen started the solo intro to Feels So Good on his guitar, but Javier Mas must have missed that, because he started to play his intro to Gypsy Wife so the went on with that one first. I think LC wanted to skip Gypsy Wife but Javier Mas didn't know. I'm not 100% sure of this, would have to listen to the bootleg to be sure (I could be totally wrong here, just my thought...)

Very brief goodbyes at the end of the show, but nevertheles a great night and perfect stay in Salzburg!
