The Essential Leonard Cohen, 31 digitally remastered songs on two CDs, will be released on Tuesday. Today the Leonard Cohen Sites have opened their Special Reports.
The Special Report created by The Leonard Cohen Files contains not only the basic data but also previously unpublished early drafts of several songs (The Stranger Song, Hallelujah, Suzanne, plus, shortly, Closing time) from Leonard's notebooks --- and The Leonard Cohen timeline showing important happenings in Leonard's life and career --- and a comprehensive Gallery of rare European picture sleeve singles (of which the vinyl pages are brand new!).
The Index of the report is at http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/essential

Discussion about the Essential album takes place in The Leonard Cohen Forum at http://www.leonardcohenforum.com or in the Chatroom at http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/chat
Enjoy the new album!!!

The Essential Leonard Cohen - Special Report
Essential
Thanks Jarkko and Marie/Patrice/Stephan/Christof for great sites on the album. Good work!
I have my Essential in hand. Wonderful package -- and fantastically clear
sound. Illustrations include the burning bush, a great Hydra photo by
Issermann, Happy at Last, and album covers. None of the backing muscians are credited, but the producer of each song is prominately displayed in the track listings. Iyer notes good as expected.
The good news was that my independent local store had it in stock. Bad news was that Sam Goodys, largest chain around, not only did not have it, but had no ordering information or listing that showed it would be available. Do not understand how that happens.
Think all fans will enjoy the great sound and hearing the songs Leonard chose.
